I just finished my required on-line domestic violence training.

I skipped through a big chunk of it. Smiley: frown How bad of me is that?

Last Monday (Patriots Day and a day off for us Patriots) I tilled my garden and covered it with processed poo stuff. It was supposed to rain tues and also yesterday. That never really happened. So, the fertilization phase is still in progress, but I want to plant some stuff anyways - radishes and lettuce.

Tonight the spouse promised me dinner out - my choice (I'm thinking Thai) and then we're going to watch Frozen. If the weather stays as nice as it is now, I'm going to dig out the garden hose and wash my car. I'll likely play some LoTRO and some Hearthstone. OR maybe I'll load up Wildstar and check that out (got a beta invite).

I'm trying to convince the wifecritter to go out to get Turkish food this weekend at the brilliantly named Turkish Cuisine. Medium chance of rain Saturday, but if we luck out I'll probably drag the clan to the park and set the beardog loose on the unsuspecting public.

Tomorrow is the first King's Day since the Netherlands started celebrating the birthday of the ruling monarch 120 years ago (it's always been Queen's Day so far). Not that I'm celebrating or anything so I'll stay close to home to avoid all the orange festivities and whatnot.

Just hard a pretty harsh meeting with my manager - not over work performance, but over how uncomfortable I apparently make some of my colleagues with off-color humor. I sometimes forget the real world is not the same as the Internet - and forget I work with a bunch of mundanes who don't think in memes like I do. Smiley: frown The truth hurts, man. I'm glad I have my own office so I was able to sit here and cry for a bit.

So now I don't feel like doing anything this weekend, but I've already committed to watching my husband in a 5K race and helping someone build a computer.

Catwho - needs less smut?

Bummer to hear that. I had a supervisor once who 'gave me the talk' to tell me that i was overly 'aggressive' and made some people uncomfortable. I countered that I was only being assertive and made people get stuff done. There were not any formal complaints or anything about me. She was a very passive type and I think it was just her I made uncomfortable.

So don't take anything personally and bring your off-color humor here for lolgaxe to +1 all over.

Yeah, these were things that other people mentioned. Apparently saying "I'll beat any of you at Scrabble!" is not going to help me win friends or influence people. Smiley: lol

Context: We were at a manager's party, and there was a pile of board games, among them Scrabble. No one but me wanted to play that. Smiley: glare

We went for Mexican Train dominoes and I beat them at that instead. Smiley: grin

Also, cracking jokes about airplanes disappearing just before boarding a plane is apparently bad juju.

And here I was all excited to make jokes about which sea I'll end up in with my flight next Tuesday.

Probably not a very difficult task. There isn't all that much sea in between the Netherlands and Scotland.

It's raining so hard at the moment that the rain drops are shedding adfditional MIRV rain delivery vehicles before hitting the ground, so I'll probably stay indoors and play with the printer fleet. That or maybe work on getting the mill operational if its warm enough.

You get herbs and veggies from a flea market? That doesn't sound like a flea market to me - that's a farmer's market.

Anyways, the job I had for today turned out to be a job for the other tech upstate, so after I got ******* out by an IT manager (because I had the audacity to call her for a work order, assigned to me with her as the contact) I got the inflatable into a lake I've been scouting out. Nice, calm, surprisingly shallow (half of it was no more than a foot or two, with my skeg dragging) with some big fat fish that I assume are carp. Ran some errands, blah blah, next is my son's first tee-ball game.

Over the weekend, I don't think there's anything planned so I'm just lookin' for opportunities to get on the water.

Last night Tare took me out to a poetry reading at this new, really cool little "shop" downtown. It's a place local artists can sell their wares, you can rent out space or a conference room if you need a place to work, they have a coffee shop, couches. Very cool. I even got enough courage to go read something of mine after a few glasses of wine in a plastic kids cup. I'll be heading back next time.

Tomorrow 2/3 of the boys have a make up snow day at school (snicker). It's only half a day so I don't feel bad. Sick and I will be removing the final pieces from our townhouse, doing a few odds and ends in the new house, and if time & weather allows, take the youngest to a local art fair. Sunday we're having our real estate agent and her family over as a way of saying thanks for all her hard work. After reading this thread, I think I'll dust off the scrabble board game and kick her as$ Smiley: sly

It's all the same ocean really, just don't tell anyone.

I need to restock on food and do the other general house stuff, typical weekend affair. Don't think there's anything too crazy yet, I'll have a bit of free time at least with the kids when the Mrs works. Whether or not we do anything exciting is probably up to the weather as much as anything else. It's that time of year when everyday is partly cloudy with scattered showers, so it's all about how partly and how scattered the things are.

If nothing else I'll need to decide between playing Sims3 and Rift. Sims3 is much more relaxing, but there's always something fun about jumping into someone face and slashing them with swords. We'll see how my energy level holds out. Smiley: lol

Tonight I'm going to a play that my daughter was costume designer for with some other family members. Then I'm spending the night in a cabin at campground my daughter lives at with my youngest who has been there since Wednesday. We been have gotten together each night for something involving a family member. Last night it was a experimental play that oldest is stage manager for and plays 2 parts in it.

Youngest leaves tomorrow to go back to S.C., so we're trying to think of something we can do during the day, before middle child has to be at play to dress the actors, so drop me home and youngest child at airport.

Sunday, I may finish a piece of art I'm doing with copper and paper and frame it for art show next month. I've been rather busy getting jewelry made for art show and event I'm vending at in June.

I'm house sitting for some friends of mine (ok, really cat sitting). They're heading to Boston area for the weekend to attend some on campus thing at some supposedly prominent women's college that their daughter won some book award for. Judging from the alumni list, I'm thinking that she might want to keep her aspiration to become "Just like Meagan Kelly" to herself though (she's leaning towards journalism). In all seriousness, it is probably a great opportunity for her if she chooses to go. Kid's way way way more motivated than I (or her father) were at her age though. Honor roll, Lacrosse, video club (just won an award for that this week, in fact), tutoring, student mentor, etc. Kids today. Total slackers!

Other than that, have some chores to do around the house. Seriously need to do some work on the office/guest-room and clear out some clutter and my tiny little yard area is a total mess. I'll try to get online and play some games this weekend, and will be playing my table top RPG as well. No other major things that I have to do though, so it'll be pretty relaxed.

Maybe we'll crash in Loch Ness and I'll get to see Nessy, that would be cool.

More likely is that if the plane crashes it'll be on one of the dozens of golf courses in Edinburgh and we'll take some golfers with us but that's probably reason for celebration for some people as well so it has it's upsides.

I think it's because of children that we die. Or rather, they're the cause of natural death to the human race. What happens is that we're all draining the people around us of our life energy. We can delay it a little with medicine, diet, and the like, but at the end of the day if we're not killed then we die. So what I think happens is that when we're children, we drain the energy of the people older than us. As they die, we live. And as we age due to this energy drain, it gradually weakens. That's why babies advanced so rapidly in their early years. Their ability to drain energy is at it's peak.

This is how I explain being dead exhausted after a birthday party for a five year old.

Ones children do age their parents even when they are adults. Well at least mine did this weekend, for Sunday I needed to sleep most of the day away and the rest of the time I played CivV.

Was great seeing my youngest daughter and spending time with her sisters too. We ended up going to see the tulips at Sherwood Gardens in the city. When they were kids, we would go there every year for the tulip display and let them climb the trees, as we lived near by. We made sure to get family photos while we were there and then took one last selfie at the airport.Screenshot

Back in the day (of motherhood) I would have happily given a pint of blood for an hour nap.

In fact I think I did. Blood donations were relaxation time.
