Saturday I did 42 seconds of stand-up comedy for the fourth time. This comedy show I've been frequenting, where audience members can put their name in a bowl - if your name is drawn, you get 42 seconds on stage before the last act. I've been lucky enough to get my name drawn every time, and this time I only had to have THREE beers worth of liquid courage. The show is otherwise comprised of actual traveling, professional comics. No big names though, although this week had Mr. T's daughter (yes, his actual daughter).

Sunday my bar trivia team went to a big tournament with like 40 teams. We finished in like 6th or 7th place, just a few points out of the money. One question, I napkin-math estimated the combined surface area of the great lakes to 99% accuracy. Although our team lost a bunch of points by not knowing the original color of Oscar the Grouch (orange).

Was a snow day for my grandson, so we played Civ V together with Jonwin. Was only Jonwin's 3th game, since he tried it on my computer. He was hooked so bought a copy for himself right before going to work. It's was the first time I played a multi player game. We had to save the game due to bedtime on a school night for Ian.

On Pi day my middle child took pies to her math class.

Every time I play I quit halfway through a game and start a new Civ IV game :(
(I always do Mathon Speed on Huge maps) I even recently got Brave New World Expansion..
I've never done multiplayer on it though.. use to do MP all the time on IV.

If anyone happens to feel like printing their own trombone, the files to do so are online for free here: http://www.bld3r.com/obj/5848589574078464
Also, if anyone feels like voting for my entry into the contest likely in return for admin pile of rateups, it's listed here under piercet_3dprint:

There might even allegedly be a video of me somewhere in there, though I could also have used a body double. You never know. Us Tim's are sneaky like that...

Voted, also nice poster. You should frame it though, looks much better than thumb tacks.

Civ V

If I was only allowed one computer game to play during my free time, it would have to be the latest version of Civilization. I spend far too much time playing it, when I should be doing something else. It's hard not opening up the game and playing when I know I have work to get done. Those Sterling Silver disks don't file themselves and become earrings, while I'm trying to build an Empire. Now that Jonwin is learning to play Civ V, we have a game to play together again.

When I started playing LOTR:O in beta, he had lost several eq friends as we all went over around the same time.
