Anyone else notice that the Google Olympics doodle is in rainbow colors...? A nod to the homosexual controversy perhaps?

It is, there's a quote about the olympic spirit, fair play and not discriminatng underneath the search bar too.

I think it's nice but google is getting loads of praise for it around the internet which seems a bit much to me.

Google is pretty pro-gay, so this isn't surprising in the least.

The entire internet is also constantly all over Google's ****, so the reaction is also not surprising in the least.

I imagine the Google Olympics would be a lot like the Laff-A-Lympics, but instead of well known to completely unknown Hanna Barbara characters it'd be well known and completely unknown memes competing.

It's a pretty obvious jab at Russia's human rights violations.

Google is at the top of the list for gay-friendly companies (which is a minor relief - maybe we'll be treated equally under their totalitarian regime, when they finally take over completely). For instance, Google pays out the difference in tax savings to its same sex employees in partnerships (as in, it pays them more proportionally to what they'd save if they were legally married), and they extend benefit coverage to those partners (which very few other companies do).

Plus, this is pretty in-keeping with the public face of Google. They make you love them, so you think less about how evil they are.

Penelope Pitstop? Total lesbian.

At least, she turned me down for a date so it all makes sense.

I think the Olympic rings had something to do with the most common colours in flags or something.

When I was a kid, I thought that song went "I'd like to buy the world a goat to keep it company".

Which made sense. Provided you like goats.

The 'full version' of Cokes multilingual rendition of America the Beautiful is supposed to be airing tonight during the opening ceremony.

In a surprising twist, the 'full version' includes all of the non English speakers being arrested and deported.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Yeah, I suggested they just use that and scribble p.s. these are ****-rings underneath, but they didn't take my advice at all. Something about stereotypes?

I love both of those things, but in very different ways. Right now I was after emotional comfort for my inner terrified 5 year old.
