I don't remember much about my M:tG career except for the ill-fated Black/Green Living Death deck. Crank out thallid counters to feed to my Lord of the Pit, lose all the counters and get eaten by my own piece. Ahh, good times.

A friend of mine made a deck that was based on tons of thallids and the giants that could grant flying to any creature for one round, but then the creature died at the end of the round (so it threw them basically). He called it his "tossed thallid deck" Badum dum!

You know I didn't even know about the masters here until after I moved and was driving down Washington wondering why traffic was barely moving. Also it took me a bit to realize what the people selling tickets every other corner were doing.

I am super observant like that.

I still say there are a ton of things I could do here that I couldn't do in Nebraska. Mountains are a short drive, ocean is a short drive, concert venue is in town, and a short drive to Atlanta if I want to do... whatever they have there to do.

3 out of 4 of those things involve leaving Augusta, though. Which is why I left permanently in 1998 and have no regrets.

Fun fact: As a rite of passage, most teenagers 16+ will spend at least one Masters running the concession stands. That's why Augusta's schools spring break always coincides with Masters' week. I had a lovely view of the 13th hole the year I worked there.

3 out of 4 things I couldn't feesibly do on a weekend in Nebraska. Hell, I either had to drive to Lincoln (bit over a hour drive) or, in most cases, Omaha (2.5 hours-ish) to watch a concert in Nebraska. This is a major upgrade.

Rather neat that the rite of passage is something like that. Better than the more destructive route.

I saw the interview with GA's governor and I think I know what happened. He's stopped listening to the weather forcasts like we have up here. Unfortunately, this time the forecast was correct.

Since Halloween, we've had five FORECASTS OF DOOM OMG KISS YOUR *** GOODBYE!11! and nothing happened. So we just don't listen anymore. Eventually it's going to bite us in the *** here in Nashville like it did in GA and AL.

Huh, no, you're right. It's rear wheel drive. 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. They do make them with four wheel, but I don't have them.

I assumed it was front wheel given just how much it slides when turning in icy/wet weather (meaning, a whole hell of a lot).

The problem is lack of weight in the back over the drive tires. A cheap fix that can actually save your life is to go to Home Depot and get some of those 50 lb bags of sand and put them directly over the drives or at least over the axle. The sand is only about 3 bucks a bag or so. I currently have 6 in my van. ( 300 lbs total, 150 over each drive). Even that little bit makes a world of difference.

Ahh yes, I remember the good old days of killing homeless bums and stashing them in the trunk of my '78 Regal as ballast.

Odd that you'd think it was front wheel drive because it handled like **** in the ice. It's generally given that front wheel drive provides better stability during icy and wet weather, at the expense of not turning as well at high speeds during normal times. They tend to under steer at high speeds.

I just wanted to state for the public record that I dealt with four snow days + weekend with three stir crazy boys and a husband who works from home, while fighting a nasty cold.... and no one died.

Hearthstone is my first card game of that type. Such a joy to play a turn based game again. I'm getting a WOW nostalgia fix, without any of the angst.

We're supposed to get up to 6" but, luckily, I have a trade show to visit tomorrow so I can take my sweet time getting out in the morning.

We're supposed to get about 1/2 foot as well. I have a fairly important meeting I'm supposed to attend tomorrow. I'm hoping/expecting it to be postponed. If it is, I'll probably stay home. I've been meaning to build a snowman.

I'm expected to get anywhere from 6"-14", depending on how much ice is mixed in.

We live in a little valley that happens to be pretty much right where storms break on rain/snow line most frequently. and also heavier or lighter snowfall than surrounding areas depending on storm dynamics. So as usual , the forecast for our zip code is "5 to 14 inches." Last few storms have been towards the high end of estimates, lately, I expect we'll get a foot or so. Or "Wednesday" as we call it here. Hopefully we won't get any of that "ice" I've heard about which would shut the state down for weeks.

Who the hell pissed off the god of winter up north?!! You guys are getting slammed! Can someone share a snapshot of how much snow you guys have on the ground?

This week we just have rain. The boys are scheduled for make up days for the next two Saturdays (buahaha) then again in April and May.

Almost none, actually. Kepps being warn enough for it to melt to almost bare ground. We got maybe an inch last night. Let me go to my window and return with visual evidence.

Screenshot

One of our garden beds. There's a meter stick screwed onto it, I'll update the photo tomorrow. As you can see, only about an inch on the ground.

I can't post pics, but got about three inches of wet and heavy stuff that is still around, sitting high on branches, etc. The house is in a small wooded valley that pools cold air so my readings are often 5-10 degrees below others in the area.

Looks like you'll be getting those fresh tomatoes any day now!

One of our vendor FEs lives and/or works out of Boise. We're in the process of getting a new piece of equipment in, so he's been traveling back and forth for the last couple months. Always amusing to hear him talk about the difference in weather. And it's not even like Boise's been hit that hard this year. Although apparently, they have some kind of inversion thing that happens there that screws them all up. Here, everything is great (like usual). :)
