My hair cutting lady keeps posting "Orteez Me" on her fb feed.Smiley: rolleyes I must admit the best few minutes of the series have been watching him at the plate.

Why do the Cardinals look like nerds against the Sox?

Will Boston take the cup tomorrow night, or will the series hang on til thursday for a spooky conclusion?

Obviously Boston is favored at this point, being up by a game. But perhaps there is some poor soul who still thinks The Cardinals have a chance??

That's prolly because you can't buy Cardinal Ice Cream cones in a freezer case near you.

I've gone through a box of these all by myself since last Saturday.

I figured Stubs committed suicide before the series started since he hasn't said a word about it. And the Cardinals aren't out of this until the last out. With that starting pitching, anything is possible. Here's hopping to the Sox pitchers continuing to play out of their minds though.

No one talks about the world series unless your team is in it. Everyone else is either bitter or doesn't care. On the plus side it meant very few people bothered to show up (or tune in) to watch a terrible Seahawks-Rams game across town. Smiley: rolleyes

Yeah, I only care if the Braves make it into the playoffs. And then I stop caring when they are eliminated.

I'm hoping the Sox can break this consecutive streak of losing championships that Boston has had as of late. I know that's douchey considering all the championships we won the last decade, but still.

And in those 4 years only 5 different teams have gone, and those 5 teams have an avg salary (this years numbers, probably similar over the years but i dont have that data unfortunately) of $133m. MLB average is $103m. If you go back 1 more year (yankees and phillies) that number becomes $151m.

Quote:
So you mean it's like any other team sport? Shocking.

Can't speak for sports other than baseball and football, but football isn't really like that because of the salary cap. There's only a $35m difference between the jacksonville jaguars who are the lowest (excluding Oakland's very low rebuilding payroll) and the highest paid Seahawks, and that difference is mostly just due to what players are available to sign at a price the organization deems reasonable. Jaguars don't suck because of lack of money. They are simply needing a few key pieces before becoming great and nothing is available at the right price for the organization. The Seahawks will have to release/trade some amazing talent away eventually once those players decide they want money that will take the Seahawks beyond the cap, which will redistribute that talent throughout the league.

Theres a $156m difference between the Mariners (who aren't even close to lowest paid) and the top paid Yankees, who've been to the playoffs 17 times out of the last 19 seasons btw. And until a salary cap is instituted i see this difference only increasing. The Mariners are losing fans to freaking soccer FFS. That's as un-American as it gets! Give every team a $103m cap and let's see what happens...

If sports was about paying the most, the Leafs wouldn't have been perennial cellar dwellers.

Also, Oakland doesn't have a rebuilding payroll. They have ass tons of dead money.

See now this is the interesting part, the internal bickering and political maneuvering it'll eventually cause. People all fighting over who gets the money. Who takes a cut "for the team"? Is there up and coming talent dethroning expensive people? How long can a good team ride under the cap before star players look to cash in? Who's there for the group and who's there for the money? Is it worth a paycut to be on a playoff team? Or do I want to be the lone big star in a small market with a fat paycheck?

Dramas I tells ya; is good stuff.

God I hope the Sox put it away tonight. Sure, it means less money for my hotel. But god damn that game 6 loss when we were up 2-1 over the Blackhawks in the 3rd was devastating. Since tonight isn't a must win, I'm not too nervous. But they lose it imma be nervous all god damn day tomorrow...

I predict if the Cardinals continue to pitch to Ortiz tonight, the Sox bring home their first World Series victory at home in my lifetime. Also wonder if Obama will be there. His motorcade went by my hotel around 4p...
