New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Monday that he will drop his appeal to a court ruling that paved the way for same-sex marriage, hours after same-sex couples in the state began tying the knot for the first time.
[...]
His decision to cancel an appeal that the state Supreme Court had still planned to hear means a lower court’s ruling allowing same-sex marriage won’t be overturned, making New Jersey the 14th state to allow the unions.

This was, if I remember correctly, the first state ban that was overturned on the basis of the Supreme Court DOMA judgement. The state's prohibition against SSM was barring couples from accessing federal benefits.

If the abandoned appeal were to become an issue in a GOP primary, Christie could counter that "activist" judges were responsible, but that would be the same position that Mitt Romney found himself in when he had to explain to a GOP electorate how gay marriage was legalized on his watch as governor of Massachusetts.

Were to become an issue?

Christie's liberal fanboism is an issue (for some).

So any of you boys wanna marry me? If you believe 2% of what gbaji says, the benefits are sweet and far outweigh the cons.

The cons? You'd have to be married to me.

Yeah, sure. We should be able to swing it. I'm assuming you're fine with doing the wife's bidding while I relax and play computer games?

Now we just need to get all those conservative nutjobs to stop discriminating against polygamists... Smiley: glare

He's young; bet you can still get him to move without paying relocation expenses.

One on hand, it'd be like having a live-in babysitter.

On the other, I'd probably have to find a new place to hide the body after Kitty takes a liking to you.

And on the other, Kitty will probably just bury you in the backyard like the neighbor's cat.

I feel like death-by-kitty wouldn't be so bad.

I dunno, if Kitty actually behaves like a cat in that regard it'd be a long, drawn out and excruciating death.

My favorite part about Kitty is that Kitty seems to be, in every way, a dog.

I'd still jump first. Being buried in the backyard doesn't sound like much fun.

Well, maybe you'll be sent to Abu Ghraib, and not one of the bad ones.
