No surprise, and slightly old news, but it looks like Cruz is being left in the lurch.

Last I heard, the other Republicans convinced Cruz to drop any other stalling procedural tactics designed to prevent a vote until Sunday. They want to get this bill passed back to the House quickly so Boehner has time to try to add a few more amendments and ping pong it back to the Senate again.

He says a personalized thank you prayer over every check though. That's got to be worth something right?

I like the whole "speaks for all of us" line, because it's always about a vocal minority.

Cloture vote for the "clean" CR passes with 19 votes to continue debate (i.e. filibuster). Sixteen of which were cast after it was clear cloture would pass regardless. NRSC having establishment GOP members provide cover for the Tea Party wing and try to blunt the "discord in the ranks" media line.

NRSC having establishment GOP members provide cover for the Tea Party wing

Almost definitely the other way around, whip lets GOP senators play to their nutjob base and avoid "RINO" challenges. Why would the Tea Party need "cover" on anything, the whole schtick is that they want to eliminate government.

Phrased poorly in that I meant allowing the establishment wing to vote that way provided party cover in regards to the whole "major fractures! party schisms!" narrative, not that the individual Tea Party members needed shielding. You're probably right about those voting against cloture likely benefiting more. Be interesting to see a list of who voted against cloture and what their upcoming election schedules look like.

Supposedly Portman voted against cloture to lend some establishment credibility to the action but that can't be broadly extrapolated across everyone else.

NRO is reporting that there's 25 House Republicans threatening to vote against the next round of House bills which would almost certainly defeat them (since the Democrats will vote against). They want a clean continuing resolution and for this to be over.

What he said.

I'm tired of the whole Obamacare thing. I wasn't hot on it when it passed, and I'm not really a fan of it now. But I'd still rather see it given its chance already. Quit the ******** and fund the government already; you all can play politics again once everyone has their paychecks in hand.

Swing and a miss. According to Twitter, the moderate "revolt" was a bust. Only six Republicans voted against, they needed 17 to have enough to tip the scales.

Go, go Tea Party control!

It can't be given a chance. While it's a terrible imitation of a useful single payer health program, it's dramatically better than what exists now and if given a "chance" will become as beloved by Americans as Social Security or Medicare. Hence the tactics to avoid a successful implementation. There really isn't much debate about the outcome without obstructionism. There are still plenty of chances for the GOP to attempt to make complying as complicated and difficult as possible for people hoping confusion might lead to it being unpopular.

Well, which drugs and which states would this apply to?
