I wish. I wish we had socialized medicine, but seriously, what does government forced health care have to do with socialism?

At least my kid has to get insurance now. She has a bone-breaking history, recently started roller derby and will be ****-*** broke when she breaks something that will interfere, delay or otherwise inhibit her ability to take photos.

The senior leaf-peepers are gonna be some riled when their tour bus pulls up at the Acadia Park gatehouse only to find it locked-up and abandoned. They're apt to go rebel.

Problem is, they'll blame the black guy.

I think he's been pretty effective, actually.

Why stop now? It's worked for like four hundred years.

What's really funny is seeing all the Tea Party leaders dancing around like it's 1996. How soon they forget history.

There was a last minute "pay the guys with the big guns before they shoot us" resolution last night, so short of messing up I should have a few bucks in my account today.

There's nothing more American than paying someone out of pocket for shady services.

Smiley: thumbsup

Though I'm slightly disappointed. A Tea Party vs. Military struggle is long overdue. It's about time someone took those militias down a peg.

They might start an armed revolution if the republicans let Obamacare go through.

I'm not too worried. The vast majority of the people that care are tea partiers, and they're mostly all approaching the century mark.

I'd be more worried about going to war with the legion of blind gun-wielders.

And hey, the medicare problem gets solved at the same time.

I vote we just let them go this time, we really need to do something about that whole "no state can leave the union thing," if anything it should be actively encouraged. Smiley: rolleyes

Ideally, let them secede, then invade and be welcomed as liberators.

Shouldn't be too hard really, it'll be hard for them to fund a military without taxes. It's the occupation part that worries me, maybe we can just shoot things with drones from a distance for a while.

But the military is a big government issue, so not having one at all is the correct course of action.

Why invade when we can simply enslave?

Galveston is trashed anyways.

edit - i guess i assumed the conversation was about texas. if we're going to let florida go, we'll need to save the Manatees first.

Speaking of, rebuilding and recovery efforts in flooded Colorado have ground to a halt due to the shutdown. So something a little more inconvenient than the Lincoln Memorial being shuttered.

It wasn't halted, it was determined on upper levels to leave them that way for beachfront property and to increase property values.

I mostly figured we'd get rid of those black sheep northern states like Montana and North Dakota. Minnesota would get rid of Bachmann...
