Actually my partner's brother has biked across the country and according to him the prairies are surprisingly difficult if the wind is blowing against you, though obviously you make better time than you would going over the rockies.

The real danger would be falling asleep and crashing during that long boring stretch after the Rockies.

I've known two cross-country bike expeditions that were cut short by dog bitings.

Kinda weird.

You were probably asking to be attacked. Stop wearing meat scented biking shorts.

I think that as long as you avoid gay pride parades and toilet stalls with holes in the dividers you should be ok on that.

I figured you'd just tie yourself to the back of a car and sleep through the prairies.

I'm upset I missed Allanois because I was moving that weekend (it was 2006, by the way).

Although I'm not so interested in this version now that all you people have already paired off and started breeding. Who's hosting the Allakhazam singles mixer and/or adults-only bacchanalia?

So do we want to get into actual feasibility and tmeframes? Maybe we can't do it this year, but maybe we can plan it for next year - I have no idea what other people have going on but I know that with kids, much advance planning is generally required and by now most folks with kids have their summers and probably even falls lined up. Also, to be perfectly honest, I'm of the "wilt in the heat" New Englander type and wouldn't normally chose to head south in the summer since the New England summer is what I live for the other nine months of the year.

Anyway, if we want to actually get real and plan something, maybe we move to a non public venue for discussion. The last couple of times that was a private forum, but I'm not sure those are a thing now? Or are they? We can do a private FB group, that works too.

Oh, and I'm NOT planning this one. No really. Tare started it and if she and DSD are going to be the "area hosts", I vote one of them goes into logistics. I still really really think that renting a whole house would be the best (and least expensive) option, especially if we're bringing kids (kids room, hello?) We can cook meals and buy booze by the bottle instead of eating out and it's nicer to drink in the livingroom rather than a hotel lobby.

Ok, I'm done...

Pretty sure it was '07. I had just changed positions at work, and that was in early '07.

But then where will our vast herds of octogenarian Yiddish go for the warmer climate?

I believe you can make user forums private.

A rich retired guy in Miami decides he wants a camel. So he contacts some people, buys a camel and has it shipped to his house. Takes his camel out that evening and rides around the neighborhood. People are pointing and talking and he's waving and feeling like king of the world.

Next morning, he goes out and his camel is gone. He calls the police to report it stolen. Cop comes and starts taking information: "Do you know how much the camel weighs?"
"Ah, no... I had just bought it"
"Well, can you tell me how tall it was?"
"No, I have no idea. I only had it a day"
Exasperated, the cop asks "Can you at least tell me if it was male or female?"
The man smacks his fist into his palm and emphatically says "YES! It was a BOY camel!"
Cop says "Wow. For not knowing anything else, you're pretty sure. Why's that?"
The man replies: "The whole time I was riding it, everyone pointed and said 'Hey, take a look at the schmuck on that camel'!'"

I vote for next year since this year is half done. Plus, J & I are on a ramen noodle budget, trying to save up for a house come spring time.

Also, unless we're hitting the beach or pool the whole time, Id recommend not summer here. Spring and fall are awesome times. Winter isn't harsh, but summer is lay by the pool all day.

I'm sure we could find some B&B's around the area

Its been even longer than 4 years for me since I last seen you guys (Boston...)

With my current medical issue, I'd have to miss this gathering, but know I'm there in spirit. Stealing your cheesedogs. Will there be cheesedogs? Those are awesome.
