For you all today....

My daily + weekend jeopardy questions:

May 10 (Colleges & Universities, $1200) Although founded in 1867, this Washington D.C. school didn’t have its first black president until 1926.

Georgetown

May 11 (Colleges & Universities, $2000) This New London, Connecticut academy’s motto is “The Sea Yields to Knowledge.”

Yale

May 12 (Biblical Women, $3000) This mother of John the Baptist was well into old age when John was born.

Ruth

My submitted answers are spoilered. I've not yet received back the correct answers. Bible questions are always pure guesswork on my part.

Also, don't forget Sunday is Mother's Day. I suggest you indulge your Mom with extravagant and tasty foods and beverages - flowers if she's so inclined. I doubt I'll see either of my kids for Mom's Day, but husband is on the hook to take me out for brunch and a trip to the greenhouse for big hanging flower basket to liven up the front stoop. It's kind of a tradition. There's a slim chance I could get a surprise visit from my boy child - but I'm not holding my breath.

Today is my little brother's birthday, Sunday the family will gather at my mom's place for BBQ and celebrations so that's what I've got planned. Other than that there's some work to be done and any gaps left over will be filled with RCT3.

Any mention of mother's day to my mom just sends her into a long winded rant about how she hates it so thankfully I don't have to remember that.

Gospel of John wrote:
On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

“Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.

I always liked that story. Mary tells her son to do something. Jesus tries to throw down some Messiah smack but his mom ignores him, tells the servants to go help her son and the Son of God winds up doing what his mom told him to do.

The amount of Jewish Mother guilt Jesus must have had to go through must have been biblical.

May 11th is the US coast Guard Acadamy. Interestingly, they alkso have that on a plaque somewhere inside the Polar Star icebreaker. The college is Howard University most likely. John the Baptist's mother was Elizabeth.

USCGA was always my favorite marching band competition. Mostly because of the bread bowl chowder.

My mom's birthday is next week, so we'll be doubling up the mother's day and birthday thing. We've got a whole day planned. With a Train involved. It should be super fun.

Been super busy over the last couple weeks and will continue to be for a few more. Going through my dad's stuff (I've got boxes of old pictures in my guest room right now). Planning a funeral. Cross state planning (and paperwork) is more problematic than you might think. Add in a military plot (purchased like 50 years ago) and it gets more complex.

On top of that, this month I have a nephew who had his First Communion. A niece who's getting Confirmed in a couple weeks. A couple birthdays. Busy. I've got some friends from out of state in town this week who I haven't seen in years, and haven't been able to see them at all. So we're having a huge grillfest dinner at another friends tonight (I've got a few strips I'm bringing for my contribution. Maybe some beer too). That should be fun.

Another friend of mine had brain surgery this week. Apparently, a rare but not unheard of side effect of radio surgery (for elimination of her AVM) is cyst formation. She's had one growing for some time, and it was affecting her ability to speak. After about 8 months of going through various neurological testing (that's a whole story by itself), they finally figured out that they'd have to go in and drain the thing. Operation was a success. Her speech improved dramatically and almost immediately. She was allowed to go home yesterday, and is doing quite well.

So yeah. Busy.

My mom's birthday, my parent's wedding anniversary, and mother's day all fall in the same two weeks. I never actually remember which date is which, I just remember that sometime during first couple weeks of May, I have to remember to get my mother something.

Be sure to cook them on top of a searing oil drum lid Smiley: wink2

Best wishes for your recovering friend.

I kind of bought a parrot AR 2.0 drone because it was on sale very very much. So i've been using it to annoy the chiuahuah's next door all day. I will say the thing is stable, but much harder to fly than the conventionally controlled helicopters with a regular transmitter.

Thursday and Friday I spent helping with various decorations for the Maryland Faerie Festival. Today and tomorrow I get to be the Un Seelie Queen's Mother and give out presents to children that do the Queen's Quest. All of this while out in the woods staying in a cabin and getting 3 meals a day. Oh almost forgot that I get a T-Shirt too.

Down side is my ex is paying guest at the MDFF for the weekend too, so I have to be nice and not punch them in the mouth for making comments to my grand kids, that only (s)he thinks is funny.

Hah! I don't believe for a second that you came up with those answers under your own brain power.

The seven of us in jeopardy club are carefully vetted for trustability. I'm tempted daily by the compelling power of the computer to just verify or remind me of correct questions.
