That interview was hilarious, though the subject (girls kidnapped and held against their will for years in a house) is horrific. "I knew she was in trouble when a pretty young white girl ran into a black man's arms." Oh man Smiley: laugh

This should be the tagline for the 2016 Republican political commercials.

You'd think they could at least photo-shop the guy a tooth.

When asked if he wanted reward money, he said he gets a paycheck and he'd rather that money go to the girls who were found. Smiley: crymore

He apparently beat his ex-wife enough to get felony jail time for it, has never paid owed child support, and has a smattering of other drug and stolen property-related offenses on his rap sheet.

Not that I think he should get flak for the things he's already served time for, of course. But I just don't think that I'd bestow the "great guy" status on him.

Well, he's immortalized on the interwebs now, so he's got that going for him.

Sure, he may be immortalized on the interwebs, but last weeks interwebz is just an enormous unwieldy digital archive.

By next month no one will remember who Charles Ramsey is.

To add further fuel to the fire, another neighbor claims he was the one to break the women out and Ramsey only showed up after he had done so. His reason for saying that he didn't get any credit? He doesn't speak English and so he wasn't interviewed.

Quote:
“I helped her and I was first,” Angel Cordero told NewsChannel5’s Stephanie Ramirez in Spanish.

“Ramsey arrived after she was outside with the girl,” Cordero said. “But the truth who arrived there, who crossed the street, who came and broke the door, it was me.”

Wintel Tejeda, who lives across the street from the suspect’s house, said others helped and when Berry came out, they gave her a phone.

“She was able to call police from my house,” Tejeda said in Spanish.

Now with Ramsey’s interview making headlines, both men said they’re not jealous.

“I did what had to be done. I helped her,” Cordero said. “They have their daughter, daughters are safe over there.”

Well that explains a lot. What I had read there were two people breaking them out, but only ever heard Ramsey's colorful interviews. I guess I just assumed it was because he became such a sensation so fast; but the no speaking English thing make a lot of sense.

Much of inner city Cleveland has been going downhill like the rest of the rust belt. Not as badly hit as Detroit was for example, but it's still pretty bad. Lots of steel jobs lost. Think I read houses in that neighborhood were like $35k-$40k. It's right next to two busy freeways too IIRC. Not exactly helpful.

The distinction is irrelevant in most cases, except East St. Louis. **** that place.

The distinction isn't irrelevant because you'll more than likely end up in a circle of contradiction trying to equate the two as opposed to using the word properly.
