Thought the bombs were believed to be in duffle bags, not backpacks. And no, that pack doesn't look large enough to hold a 6 qt pressure cooker in it. It's only about maybe 6-8" out from his back (or he's like 10 feet tall making that pack much larger than normal). It also slopes wrong. It's too tapered at the top. You're putting a 1 ft diameter object inside a pack and wearing it on your back. It's going to make the pack stick out at least a foot, and it's going to bulge quite a bit in all directions. It's not a sphere, it's a cylinder. They've either got the wrong guy, or that's him after setting down the bag that had the bomb in it.

Seriously. Go find every bag you own. Then get a 6 qt pot and put it inside each one, one at a time. Then carry it and look in a mirror. It'll be pretty obvious you're carrying around a pot shaped object in whatever bag you've got it in.
I actually packed a bag this morning because I knew you would ask this. You're predictable.

What's in my bag, gbaji? What's in it?

Carry it around, and I'll be able to tell you if there's a pressure cooker in it.

Also, 6qt Pressure Cookers weigh like 8lbs.

Not after you fill them with a remote detonator, explosives, and shrapnel. Is there like a holiday on critical thinking around here?

And no Smash. You don't need xray vision to noodle that out.

Can you demonstrate your theory using the actual photos of the backpacks in question that have been released by the FBI? No? HOLY SHIT, THEY HAVE THE WRONG GUYS!!!!

Nothing else makes any sense, does it, fucknut? Please stick with the very limited arena where you're a subject matter novice with a manual and a help line number.

So you're changing your argument, like usual. That's okay. Your inability to tell screams volumes how you know you're wrong. That's win enough for me. Not so "IT WAS OBVIOUS" anymore, is it?

Which adds another three to five pounds. I know you don't know what you're talking about, but it really doesn't weigh that much. Well, not weigh much to someone that's remotely in shape. I'm sure the remote is heavy for you, fatty.

That would explain why you seem to be on the Jewish holiday version of it. Smiley: smile

Yeah, how they got the bomb in there is certainly a question. I mean first though you go, standard gym bag, 40lb (totally just making that up) of explosives, cooker, nails, etc. It could certainly be obvious if done sloppily, in which case you'd wonder how the heck it happened. I could still imagine a bag that would make it at least not obvious to the average layman (of course I don't actually have a bag to check it with), at least not without the benefit of 20/20 hindsight. How it all went down is what they're working on, and it'll be interesting to see if we sitting here in a couple of months thinking "hmm that was a pretty clever way to disguise a bomb," or "wow, I really am surprised he managed to do that without someone noticing something."

I dunno, I'm still not surprised they were able to pull it off though.

No, because anyone who isn't a moron understands how idiotic it is to think it would be noticeable to carry a small bomb in a backpack. I carry larger and heavier things in mine, daily. Along with pretty much everyone who has a child and backpack instead of a diaper bag.

Where are you people getting these figures? A little more than a pound of C4 can take out a truck, and C4 isn't exactly difficult to make at home. Smiley: dubious

Part of me can't imagine them doing this without a test run. You know, at least put the thing in a bag and make sure it can't be seen. Common sense kind of stuff if you're going to try to sneak it in there.

Smiley: wink
I have absolutely no idea how much it weighed, just threw out a number. Nails are heavy. I have no idea how much 6 quarts of nails weighs. Methinks it'd have to be close to something like that much to be visible outside the bag though. I mean much lighter and there's just no way it's going to sag or distort a decent quality bag enough.

You're looking at 15~20lbs. Most high schoolers carry more in their backpacks, and we're talking about professional runners with their after run bags. It's pretty much text book suicide vest. It's bizarre to me that people think a giant water heater was hidden in a fanny pack. Well, spg it's bizarre. gbaji is par for the course.

So each device weighted 20 lbs, like I guessed without any detail at all? I'd say that's pretty damn impressive on my part.

We have a guy who transferred over from Explosive Ordinance Disposal, and I talk to him a lot. Cool guy, but you can tell the job messed him up pretty bad. Decent shot, but his hands shake when he's not focused completely, stutters pretty badly and flighty. Learned a lot from him. Including how to make my own C4. Smiley: um

I like how they automatically jump to "they're Navy SEALs". They completely ignore the fact that it's also the emblem for the Punisher, which means it could be some regular guy who bought a hat online..

Well, apparently they are now in a shootout with police? Watching the news this morning on NBC.

Said they are a pair of young brothers (18-20). The one in the white hat is still loose, the other was shot during some altercations during a robbery, reports saying with bombs on his person.

Edit:
Reporting them as Chechen descent.

Chechens! Well, that's... festive. Not only white, but Caucasian white. This should turn a few race-baiters' heads spinning.

Chechnya's close enough to Iraq. They are just Islam-corrupted.

Edit:
Nope, they were corrupted by anti-American Liberal College Professors in Boston. Poor kids never stood a chance.

Being Muslim darkens your skin at least 40%. Little known fact, Obama is actually not from Kenya, but from Iceland, the Muslim thing just darkened him up.

ETA: No idea if they're Muslim, but if they're actually Chechen, which really given how terrible the media is at this is no sure thing, its fairly likely they would be.

Obviously, someone did plant these things. I'm just curious how. Was he signed up to work the event or something? Pretending to be carrying supplies so no one thought to check? I mean, nothing screams "bomb" like a duffle bag with a large pot shaped object in it, right?

I would think if you were going to carry a bomb in a duffle bag you'd get one heavy duty enough not to show an obvious pot-shaped bulge.

At least you're the first person to acknowledge that you can see a "pot shaped bulge" from outside the damn bag. It's like pulling teeth around here to get anyone to admit even the slightest and simplest things.

No one is admitting simple things because they don't agree with you. It's not a matter of denial. I didn't look at those pictures and see a back-pack with a bulge that was obviously due to some large round metal object.

I could be books, it could be clothing, it could be a laptop + a bike helmet+a wad of dirty underwear+a bag of tacos.

Or maybe everyone is just stubbornly disagreeing with you because we're all brain-washed liberals. Smiley: rolleyes
