Delusions of Grandeur thread now? How did you view the world when Disney security was dragging your foamy mouth out of the park? Did 10 4 year olds conspire to get that done?

They actually drag you under the park, through a tunnel, and then up out of a parking lot a surprisingly long way from the park. I don't have delusions of grandeur, you're confusing it with the lack of false modesty I also don't bother with. Of course, I realize it's expected to treat others as intellectual equals even when they aren't, but I'm not going to. Mainly because the expectations of idiots don't mean that much to me.
Does, "It's a small world" magically emanate from the tunnel walls while you're being escorted by dozens of cute little costumed kids from around the world?

I suddenly can't help but wonder.. would you rather be dragged out of Disneyland by one adult sized 4 year old or ten child sized adults?

Sadly, no. The security people do have disneyfied "ranks" though, like "Sergeant at Hugs".

I'm kidding, they're douche-bag rentacops as you'd expect.

I'm the only one in my family that is certifiably sane. This is why I'm not having kids of my own. My sisters all have something along the bipolar spectrum, and in one case, schizophrenia.

My husband was diagnosed as Aspi back when it was still separate from autism spectrum, but now the diagnosis is questionable since he "grew out of it" - like many kids do.

Just because your kid likes to count how many red cars they saw today doesn't mean they're autistic spectrum. They probably are bored and like red cars. (He drove one for ten years then crashed it... plain boring orangey-silver-good Toyota now.)

Funnily, I always thought there was a good chance that Smash was kind of autistic. Not even kidding.

No, what I have is "I live in a world populated and controlled by people who are almost exclusively as stupid and unaware as children". Pretty common among those of my intellectual strata. There are no content, happy, well adjusted very smart people. Gather 10 4 year olds, and allow them to make all of your household decisions for a year and at the end of that you'll get a small taste of how I view the world.

I used to think the same way until I started to grow out of my (relatively mild) Aspergers Smiley: lol There are actually plenty of very intelligent, happy, well-adjusted people. Socially maladjusted people just don't usually really get to know them, especially when they extrapolate minor points of disagreement into proof of their individual superiority.

Arguably, there's no such thing as someone truly smart who lives their life in constant dissatisfaction. That **** is for fools. You accept the world is ****** and unfair, and you make a happy little bubble to live in.

Honestly, sounds to me like it could be some HFA.

A battery of psychologists for two years in middle school.

I think it was a letter actually. But it had the school board's seal on it.

I get tired of what feels like people's need to slap a label on somebody who isn't "normal". My brother's wife is convinced that I have aspergers just because I don't feel the need to be with people all the time. I can spend an hour or 2 around others, but then I need to get away and be alone. I make remarks about her paying to hang out with people in college because she was in a sorority and I don't understand the whole greek thing. I believe facebook and cell phones are leading to the devolution of society. And I can't write a decent resume because it feels too much like lying when you start adding flavor to what should be a cut and dried, fact based work history. So in her eyes, since I'm comfortable with my role in world and am not out to impress total strangers, something must be wrong with me.

No, there are plenty of *reasonably intelligent" happy, well-adjusted people. It's not at all the same. People in the 98th percentile of intelligence accomplish a lot, live happy lives and are recognized as bright by their peers and families. People in the 99.9th percentile of intelligence live tormented lives, kill themselves at a rate around 20 times higher than the general population and are recognized as "different" and "difficult" by their peers.

Not something I made up out of hubris or emo attention seeking, it's a known phenomenon. People generally associate with those who near to them in intelligence, when there are fewer and fewer of those people in the world, socialization becomes more difficult. Not that you can't learn to fake it to get laid, it's easy, but really, how would your social life be impacted if you really only had anything in common with people who had the same first and middle name as you. How many of them would you meet if you didn't go out of your way to find them?

Your wife is an extrovert. You are an introvert. Extroverts tend not to understand introverts, and to think there's something wrong with us, and to get very excited about the prospect of fixing us.

On the other hand, if you can work with it, it's a pretty good balance.

I would say the majority that post here fall in the average range of intelligence. Perhaps a few in the upper part of the curve and a couple in the lower, but all still under the bell. I would also surmise that all have some satisfaction in their lives. I bet even Varus would smile at Okra picking time.

What I have a hard time believing is that someone with extraordinary intelligence would be spending their time arguing this unanswerable question with strangers on in internet gaming forum.

Interesting that you'd assume you could understand the motivation behind them doing anything. Which, of course, is the rub. The idea of what hyper intelligent people *should be* in the minds of others is as useful as a 2 year old's idea of what being an astronaut is like.
