The lady that runs/owns our corner gas station has a brother that dives for scallops. As the season winds down there are 'leftovers' (I'm assuming they end up with more scallops than licensing allows). Our gas-station lady gets us in on the bounty. For a mere few bucks we get a few pounds of really fresh fat salty juicy tender scrumptious scallops.

So for Sequestration dinner I think I'm going to try a tropical scallop recipe. And wine. I picked up some nice whites from a couple upstate NY wineries. I don't know what to wear for sequestration though - sensible shoes I would imagine.

I believe fashion dictates that Sequestration Day is the first acceptable day for wearing sackcloth.

Ironically we had like $150 left over from last month's food budget, so we're going crazy with food and wine downtown today.

I just drank a $5 cubano cappucino. I don't think I'll sleep for days.

Yay for money to spend on fancy food and booze.

As for weekend plans, I cooked some kind of fancy dinner for my mom and sister today, the pear cake I made was wonderful. Now I'm in the process of drinking too much and Sunday will be spent shopping for clothes. Tomorrow may or may not be a day of hangover, general apathy and laziness.

So where'd the wines come from? Finger Lakes, I'd assume; though I prefer Millbrook, which is more local to me.

What, none of that coffee liquor so popular in Maine? You should get a few bottles of that to ride out the storm.

One was Thousand Island Winery. Can't remember the name of the other. They were both whites though. One was called a Wedding Wine. I really liked it. My daughter had taken me to the Syracuse Farmers Market (every Sat - even in the winter!). There were at least four wineries there. I was sampling them all (Smiley: boozing). I picked up some locally made cheese also.

Lol. It's kind of sad that rural Mainers are so well know for their love of coffee brandy. I don't like to mix my coffee with anything.

Sarcasm doesn't enhance your posting flavor. Smiley: blush

Sleep is never over-rated.
