I watched most of the Academy Awards last night - it was actually pretty good too. Seth did good job. Congrats to Ben and crew.

It didn't have my full attention (getting distracted in XCOM can be problematic), but it seemed eminently watchable. You wouldn't know it from the folks on my twitter feed, though...they were gnashing their teeth about every single joke Seth made. "A JEWS IN HOLLYWOOD JOKE?! HOW DARE THEY!?" etc. etc.

I didn't watch the entire show but I was surprised with how well Seth did. I'll admit my inclination is to dislike him, probably because I'm sick of Family Guy and its related properties. So, hey, uphill battle and I was still impressed.

I thought it made perfect sense to select him as a host. He's got the stage-ready voice, some humor, and an outspoken love of show tunes. And even a cursory viewing of Family Guy shows how much reverence he's got for Hollywood's history. Seemed like as long as he could avoid making a joke that cut too close, he'd be just fine.

On a tangentially related note, Ted was a horrible movie. We rented it last week, and thoroughly regretted it.

I thought Ted was 'aight. I mean, it was every bit as good as the premise could carry it which was better than it had any right to be.

Three hours of Anne Hatheway fighting a guy in a chicken suit.
