We're painting a bedroom this weekend.

My hubbies b-day is coming up shortly so I'll be cyber shopping for a tablet for him. Any suggestions? It needs to be bigger than a 7" screen I think.

We picked up our completed taxes last night. We earned the same amount of money, but our return is less than half of last years (basically we're taxed about 2k more). I've not scoured the documents yet to see what caused the hit.

I'll probably have the Academy Awards on the TV Sunday evening, though I generally pay little attention to award shows. I still need to see Argo.

I'm sick. It's some sort of ebola-like lung flem filled yellow spewing death cold, and I wish very much to not be in existance at the moment. Since I'm loopy on cold medicine at the moment, thats seems like a reasonable and rational time to start my taxes.

Tablet, don't get a kindle tablet, they're cut down in features. You want one of the samsung tablets. Check with your cell phone provider, they may have the ability for you to add a tablet if you buy it from them to your data plan and not cost you much more at all. That makes the tablet much more useful if you travel with it alot. if you will just use it in a fixed location over wifi, don't worry about that. Samsung Galexy S10 or something along those lines. Ipads are evil, avoid.

I'll be working, but it's been pretty slow, so I'll have to muster up some self-motivation to do some things instead of browse Reddit all day.

Need to shovel snow when I get home. Not much in the way of weekend plans yet. Flea and I were going to do a dinner & a movie last weekend which never materialized so perhaps we'll try again.

If your husband has a smart phone, get him a tablet using the same platform (iOS, Android, Win8) so he can share his applications across both devices. No sense in repurchasing everything.

Speaking of, I've been promising to wipe Flea's tablet and install Jellybean on there for a dog's age. Maybe I'll actually get that done this weekend.

That's pretty much doomed to fail, isn't it?

And I'll be wasting my time with AC3 and possibly some other games in between.

Gonna be a slow day for me as well. Will pass any free time reading games journalism drama.

Supposed to go to a friend's housewarming party tomorrow, but I have something similar to Kao's symptoms, so we'll see. Also, one of my other friends will likely be bringing his girlfriend who he just got back together with after she cheated on him, so that's going to be nice and awkward. Dunno what to do about it.

Cleaning mostly I think. I've been gone all week, so my house is probably less clean then it would be when I'm home.

The Kindle Fire was topping my list. We don't have cell phones.

How about the Chromebook? Seems it's more of a laptop in functionality but a tablet in size and portability...and it's a Samsung.

Shopping lists are made for the week, I'll need to hit the stores tomorrow at latest as some of my coupons expire Saturday. Mom is coming down for one day, and I'd like to get to the driving range with my brother-in-law. That last one is really iffy though, weather is nasty and he's got a 10 day old baby at home that needs changing and feeding.

Is there one around you? My wife actually wanted one for the longest time, but there wasn't one within 100 miles of us. In the end she just went with a cheap conventional laptop, it was only $50 more and she got something with an actual hard drive that she could load software onto.

What do you see him doing with it? Mainly a media consumption device or actually running productivity style apps? How tech savvy is he?

Wow, easy question.

http://www.google.com/nexus/10/

Unless he's in love with iOS, then pay way too much for an iPad, I guess. Although were that the case, we assume you'd have just bought one by now.

Huh, for some reason I thought the Nexus and iPad were closer priced but, nope. $100 cheaper for the Nexus per level (16GB, 32GB).

His needs are email, web-surfing, skyping/messaging and viewing Korean soap operas.

He's not tech savvy, but he can spark up a toasty bonfire like it's nobodies business.

Yeah, no ipad and my budget is $300 +/- a hundred bucks.

The wife pretty much hates her with the fire of a thousand suns, so that's probably a no. Suffice to say, I'm not her biggest fan either.

I guess I don't really understand the bigger than 7" part then? Nexa has a 7 inch tablet, and I can't imagine any of those things being an issue. Now if he reads comics/graphic novels then the jump from 7 to 10 inch is a huge deal making something that's barely tolerable on a 7 inch tab a better experience than reading paper on the 10 inch.

My mother got really sick a few weeks ago; congestive heart failure, blood clots, fluid in the lungs, all that good stuff. Spent ten days sedated and on a ventilator. As soon as she got out of the ICU, spent one day in a recovery bed then went right to a rehab center...for all of a week. We need to switch rooms in the house, since she can't handle stairs daily anymore, but it was supposed to be two weeks from now, not...tomorrow. So we're currently in the process of turning the whole house inside-out. Which includes emptying the master bedroom, which is full of forty years' worth of two hoarders' junk, one of whom (my father) hasn't even been alive for six years. Our driveway is currently lined with Bagsters, frozen into the mud.

The 7 inch is just too hard to see.

I have a 7 inch screen on my Nook. It's ok for reading because I can set the font to super big, but webbing is hard. If you pinch the page big you can't find stuff on it. I have to wear my readers to do anything on my nook except reading. One of life's goals at our age is to find ways to avoid having to put on the reading glasses. Also my husband has big fingers - seriously big. That's why I kinda liked the chrome book as it has a more standardized keyboard.
