Well, duh. There's no fucking way a koala could kill a great white shark.
That's what it wants you to think.

I dunno about you, but those two links lead to the same results.

In my browser, the first link goes to google images for "james nac", and has a bunch of random stuff that isn't at all haunting or about folks who've died.

As in, the first one goes here

In my browser the "James Nac" instantly redirects to Nachtwey and the two links end up showing identical results.

So if you go to www.google.com, then click on "images", and type "James Nac" into the field, you don't get a bunch of pictures having nothing to do with James Nachtwey? That's really strange. And unlikely, given that a search on "Nac" will result in all sorts of things that match that string other than just Nachtwey. The reason the link is broken is because one of the strings is "James Nac" instead of "James Nachtwey". So depending on which browser you use (or platform, not sure), it'll use that search string instead of the full one that was intended.

If I personally go to Google and type in Nac it doesn't redirect. I do see the Nac vs Nachtwey in the two links, I'm not Bijou.

I assumed that the other pieces of the Google links in question contain some sort of Google related data. In fact, if you look at the first link, the string "James Nachtwey" is contained twice later in the link.

I just tested it out and if you type in "James Nac" but then use Google's auto-correcting/guessing list to do the actual search by choosing "James Nachtwey", you end up with a link that the first string is "James Nac" but it directs you to "James Nachtwey"

This link that I just created.

So what ever browser you are using is ******** up Google. But I've tested it in IE 9 and Firefox 18, the two I have on my computer right now and they both work as intended and redirect to James Nachtwey. So maybe you never actually clicked the link and just saw "James Nac" as the first string in the Google link and just assumed it was wrong and had to post the correction?

It must be that all of our computers are messed up and not working correctly.

I was listening to some guy on the radio last night going on about how Google browser reinforces our biases.

If this is true then gbaji's links probably went too far right and fell off the internet.

Yup. I suspect it's a difference between what is actually typed into the google image search bar, and what google suggests as a search string.

Interesting. Let me test this.

First, I'll type "James Nac" into the search bar, and the click the top suggested choice "james nachtwey": Link 1

Second, I'll type "James Nachtwey" into the google search: Link 2

Finally, I'll type "James Nac" into the google search, and hit enter instead of clicking any suggestion: Link 3

I suspect It's other browsers putting additional information in there. My links correctly resolve for me (and are much shorter strings than yours).

I'm using Firefox 3.6.17.

No. I clicked on the link and was puzzled that the pictures I was seeing weren't from James Nachtwey. When I clicked the original link, I arrived at the same page as the one in Link 3 above. I didn't look at the url string until after I discovered that something was wrong.

Smiley: nod

Twas my understanding. Unless you block their behind-the-scenes stuff somehow, they use your past browsing choices to flavor your search results.
