Quote:
It took 16 hours of talks in New York on Saturday, with concessions from both sides. It took 113 days. A total of 625 regular-season games were sacrificed, or over half the 2012-13 season. It took months of bitter sniping, petty politics, false hope and broken hearts.

But at around 5 a.m. on Jan. 6, the word finally spread around the hockey world: The NHL and the NHLPA had reached a verbal agreement on a tentative framework for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Whoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

As a Canadian I am indifferent this year. I could really care less about the NHL this year. I have been quite content watching the OHL and other CHL games, and some of the NCAA games that happen to make it to TV. I actually think that the junior stuff is better hockey. Heck the London nights went 24 games in a row without a loss! and are on a 26 game point streak (51 of a possible 52 points!) Thats entertaining.

The NHL can get bent this year, and probably next year too.

The NHL can bent forever not just for the immediate future.

This is clearly' the Leaf's best chance to win the cup. They always start of well before losing 39/50 games leading up to the playoffs.

THIS IS THE YEAR!

I was mildly surprised by the apathy towards the potential end of hockey. Perhaps it's because I'm down in NYC now. Up in Buffalo, it seemed like 1 in every 4 people was a fan. Here, it's like 1 in every 50, and they're so bitter that they seemed to hope the NHL would tank.

Wait. You're surprised about apathy in NEW YORK CITY??? They were going to actually change the name to Apathy City, but enough people couldn't be bothered to vote for it.

Until the NHL forces their referee's to wear the same get up as those officiating in the Spengler Cup, hockey is dead to me.

I'm a little curious to see how it'll turn out. The hockey fans I know are of a similar opinion, but Colorado only boasts support for hockey when the Avs are good, and that's not likely any time soon. I just wonder if the owners didn't burn themselves after doing this for the 4th time in 20 years (think I read that somewhere, I know it's at least twice in 10). Canadian Hockey may just end up winning out in the end.

They didn't. Canadian hockey fans are passionate and loyal. American hockey fans are massive suckers. Neither group is going to stop showing up to games over a labor stoppage.

No Canadian team has won the Cup in almost two decades, so who're the suckers? Smiley: schooled
