Israel isn't required to submit to inspections because Israel isn't a signatory to the Nonproliferation Act. Iran is.

It would take more than just fancy snow shovels.

Alright we'll throw in a case of Kokanee and a roll of duct tape, but they have to promise to start playing real football up there in return.

No-one's a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Act, because that's a piece of US legislation directed at Iran.

3 (real)Countries think Israel should not be a signatory, when the rest of the world does, and the rest of the world is. We denounce Iran a signatory nation because they won't declare what they are doing with it. They have. Numerous times they stated it is purely for energy purpose and not intended to be militarized. So they just aren't declaring what we want to hear...meanwhile you have a more or less confirmed nuclear power, who has been working on the science since 1958 appealing to the IAEA for increased anti-nuclear pressure. One that we have never sought to inspect, have never been allowed to inspect, and have no confirmed (or denied) reports on their nuclear intentions.

We have Israel a Nuclear capable (widely consider Nuclear Armed) nation, who is a non signatory of the NPT, who has not made a declaration their nuclear intentions (or ******** requesting that the global body initiate activity against a nation who has signed to this treaty and is currently trying to build a nuclear program...not refining a program over 54 years. A nation who has declared intention, allowed inspections, and still...still we scrutinize over them...on request of Israel.

That is not hypocritical?

Israel Canada USA Marshall (@#%^ing) Islands, and Palau.

The Coalition of Subordination.

I mean sh*t its in the damn Treaty.
"Right to peacefully use Nuclear Energy"

I mean it doesn't get anymore hypocritical than that.

Then again what can I say my country is openly selling Uranium to India another unsigned nation, so I guess Canada is pro-proliferation, go us!

http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/canada-and-india-finally-reach-nuclear-deal-1.1026044

Of course it was buried under all that other news going on on Nov. 6th. Election Day USA or something.

As a sovereign nation, the only opinion that really matters is Israel's given that it's up to them whether or not sign. It's a treaty, not a compulsion.

Quote:

No, because they haven't allowed the access required by the treaty they willingly signed.

Quote:
That is not hypocritical?

Nope.

Correct its not like it was a resolution or anything. Of course Israel dismissed that, of course they will dismiss this.

Did we do anything about that? Nah...its Israel a rouge nuclear capable nation. Kinda like North Korea...but on our side!

So what are these guys doing then?

Quote:
Nope.

If it looks like sh*t and smells like sh*t it probably is sh*t.

Speaking of which, why isn't my country getting in sh*t? We just signed a deal with India (another Rogue Nuclear Power) to send them Uranium...as long as it is for peaceful purpose...a direct violation of the NPT regardless if it is used peacefully or not...and of course simple math can tell you if they buy enough from Canada to cover their domestic needs, their own pile at home can be used to make missiles. After all, it was Canadian Uranium inside India's first test bomb may as well let them buy ours so they can use theirs this time.

Irony, and Hypocrisy.

Thats pretty hypocritical of you Joph.

Iran broke the rules they deserve what they get!, I don't care that Canada broke the rules!

Iran has allowed inspectors, have declared their intent, both requirements that allow them the right to pursue peaceful nuclear development, and you care because they haven't shown what we want them to show.

Canada has decided to sell Uranium to a rouge Nuclear Power, a direct violation of the NPT and you don't care.

Hypocrite.

I don't remember throwing a big fit about Iran either, really. I'm saying why the IAEA would expect full access to their sites.

But, hey, you've convinced yourself that saying "hypocrite" enough times is a silver bullet so rock on Smiley: laugh

Here: "Canada is a bunch of doody-heads and should be invaded and occupied by UN peacekeepers post haste!" Now I'm not a hypocrite. Thank God.

They have given them access to their nuclear sites. The site you are referring to is a Military site, not nuclear, the IAEA has no authority or right to inspect it. It is not mandated by the NPT and is not required to submit to inspection under the NPT, as it has nothing to do with their nuclear program.

Of course we can spin and say it does, but just because we claim it, doesn't mean that the rules change, Iran has no obligation to allow IAEA inspectors into its Military establishments.

Of course thats not to say Iran couldn't be weaponizing nuclear material there, but hey guess what, there isn't anything we as a world body can do legally to find that out, and Iran is not bound to disclose that information either.

Of course rules don't mean anything to folks like us. Living in our hypocritical ivory towers.

Do as I say not as I do.

So you're saying both sides have potentially legitimate arguments using the mutually agreed upon rules so that's fine but while Israel has no compunction to abide by a non-binding resolution, their failure to do so is a terrible thing?

I am a hypocrite, at least I can admit it though. We do need to prevent a nuclear Iran, and we do need to protect Israeli interests, but we also need to stop with this double standard. We punish Iran for not following UN resolutions (which are above and beyond the requirements laid out in the NPT, essentially the same meaningless resolutions that Israel disregards.) but not Israel.

We are hypocrites.
