Just in case anyone was losing sleep over this. Angus King the newly elected Independent Senator from Maine (replacing Olympia Snow (R)) will be caucusing with the democrats.

Man, I thought he was going to caucus with the minority party that spent the election attacking him rather than the majority party that rolled over their candidate to give King a clear election path.

He's never been an "Independent". Just a political expediency in Maine for him to use that label. Mainers are the least secure people in the country and suspicious of pretty much any organization. He has pretty much no issue positions that line up with the GOP except for a token "fiscal conservative" streak that never actually became any sort of policy during his Governorship.
