As I may have mentioned (whined about) before, since moving to an island in the Pacific Ocean, my husband and I are less than wealthy. One of the cut backs we've made is any type of cable TV. We have Netflix streaming still, but there are some shows I am missing.

Hulu is running a one week free promotion. After that, it's $7.99 a month. I signed up for the free trail today, and I wondered if anyone else here indulges in Hulu. Do you like it? Find it worth it?

It's definitely worth it if you're trying to catch a lot of TV shows you missed or want to see again. The things I don't like is that Hulu randomly changes shows from access anywhere to Web Browser only, and that even with Hulu+ there is still a crap load of ads. Older programs will normally have three 30 sec ad blocks spaced out over the length of the episode, but I found a newer show that had six 1:30 ad blocks placed in it.

Also some shows, even though they are supposed to be available on Hulu, tell you that you have to watch the episodes on the original channel's website.

Connectivity blows for us. No idea why. I assume it's on Hulu's end, since every other streaming video service, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, etc, works perfectly at much higher resolutions while Hulu locks up randomly.

This site has pretty much anything a couple of hours after it airs for free, with few adds that ad block doesn't take care of. With Megavideo down, there's fewer options, but still a plethora to choose from. And its all region free.

That's a fairly specific kink.

We haven't had cable in years. Netflix and hulu are pretty much all we need. We're actually thinking of dropping netflix, keeping hulu and grabbing a rooku (sp) for local new channels. But yeah, hulu is good to keep up with current shows.

I made the switch to Netflix and Hulu Plus back in September and haven't really missed cable at all. Granted, I'm not a huge tv watcher but I can easily find something on one or the other when the mood hits me. $16.00 a month well spent in my book. You might also want to look into a digital antenna. They're relatively cheap and I've heard can pull in a decent amount of channels if you're fairly close to the stations.
