Musical Cabinet Chairs...who goes where?Follow

Traditionally second terms involve large scale changes to Cabinet postings. Who will stay and who will go? Who will have a new job in 2013? Whose routine will reign supreme?

I won't go into all of them, but two of the rumors would make for an exciting political season locally. Kerry at State and Patrick as AG. (occurs to me that both of these men have last names that are also first names. suspicious...).

I think Kerry would be very mediocre at State, and I don't really have the energy for another special election involving Scott Brown. Patrick's been a good Governor, but he clearly views it as a stepping stone to national office. I'd be a little more interested in that race. Assuming Scott Brown doesn't run. I just can't do another 6 months of barn jackets and pickup trucks, and his strange brood of mannequin like children.

I guess what I'm saying is that I dislike Mr. Brown. Which is what I say to my son every diaper change.

Part of Kerry's sucking up was acting as Romney's stand in during debate prep. Based on the first debate, I say Kerry is made Minister of North Alaskan Pipeline Observation and given a permanent post.

I've no idea how Kerry would do as SOS aside from knowing he covets it with all his Kerry-heart. I do think Brown would have a better than average chance of winning another special election given that the Senate is, for now, safely in Democratic hands and the fear of a GOP executive/legislative behemoth no longer exists.

The Turkish Weekly is reporting that Hilary has made the announcement about stepping down.

Maine's new democratic controlled house and senate get to pick us a new attorney general, secretary of state and state treasurer. I'll be quite pleased to see a couple of these people hit the road,- one in particular has been a thorn in my side. I've not heard much about replacements excepting for the AG.

I'm reading an assumption that Susan Rice would replace Clinton. That'll be a fun Senate process.

I know it's sexist and irrational, but I almost feel more comfortable with a female Sec. of State these days, as they'd be less likely to be a war-monger, and more likely to oppose human rights violations.

LOL @ Patreus.

One can't help but wonder how this would have affected the election had it surfaced a week ago.

Seeing as how he's a Republican, probably wouldn't help Romney too much.

I understand there's an opening over at the CIA that needs filling.

Ahhh, nevermind. Petraeus has been busy plugging that hole for a while now.

Now there's buzz about Susan Rice for Sec of State and Kerry for Sec of Defense.

That must be because Obama doesn't want Kerry as SoS because it sure doesn't fix the Brown situation.

Not a cabinet post but, to the surprise of absolutely no one, Angus King (I-ME) has announced he'll caucus with the Democrats.

I've pretty well convinced myself that Rice will not get nominated as Sec. of State. But who will?

What about that rich white guy, what was his name again? Mitt, currently jobless and slacking off at his sons law office in Boston, meets with Obama tomorrow. Do you think there is a deal in the making?
