Hard work is no the strongest correlate with economic success. LUCK is. This fantasy that hard working people prosper is what destroys capitalism, not the safety net. Does it correlate? Yes, of course. All other things being equal the person who works hardest will succeed. The problem is all other things aren't equal.

Unfortunately, hard work gets you practically nowhere in this country. Taking advantage of the person working hard next to you, is what gets you somewhere in this country and has been the standard for quite.

We had an Obama victory party at Trappeze tonight.

13 white, well-educated 30-somethings. The only person among the group who hadn't finished at least a BA was the one who's a manager for Microsoft. The remaining assortment ranged from a graphic design professional, an education professor, an interior designer, and several current graduate students (including myself and one who is finishing up his PhD in microbiology).

Everyone was employed. And aside from student loans, no one was on government "handouts."

No, only every employer that didn't already offer healthcare.

Meaning, any employer that offered a real job with real benefits really didn't see any changes.

Guess you missed that bit where obama concealed the food stamp numbers prior to the election.

Bothered to look at the markets reaction?

Every business that has around 50 employees are firing people to avoid the new tax regulations.

A lot of poor people just voted towards extending their own poverty.

Down 2.44% over 5 days. ALPACALIPS NAO! Smiley: tinfoilhat

If it helps my brother-in-law's business is about 50 employees and hiring though, maybe you could get a job from him. You gotta be drug free and shave daily of course, think you can handle that?

I get a bit confused about the "clean-shaven" provision. I have a goatee which I keep pretty neat and tidy; if I keep the rest of my face shaved (no stubble) does that count? Or do I have to revert back to my teenage look?

Pretend you're in the military; they're a security company.

Now that I read what I wrote, that line seems pretty appropriate. Smiley: lol

I wish the quiz had better options to include restrictions and/or circumstances instead of blanket answers..

Obama 89%
Stein 77%
Romney 75%

Seems pretty balanced to me..

It does... Did you not see the third option that every question had? If you click on that, it brings up a list of more elaborate and detailed answers. That way if it's not a clear cut issue for you, you don't have to stick with a yes or no answer.

Hmmm. So, it was blocked by firefox. I retook the quiz and here are my "new" scores..

Obama 61%
Romney 56%
Stein 44%

Ironically, my state and national percentages remained the same. I guess I'm "normal" Smiley: glare

I won't believe that until 2016 when each and every single vote is officially counted.
