Yeah, yeah, who needs another political thread already? Ok, but this should appeal to this particular crowd since it is generated by NPR, the Left's favorite radio station!

The site is:
isidewith.com

In it you will asked a number of questions pertaining to your stance on various topics. You may answer a simple yes or no, or you can go into greater detail by looking at other options. You can even use your own words. Then to the left of each question it asks you to rate the importance of each issue. At the end it tallies up your responses and show how close to each of the candidates you are.

My results show that I am:
97% Romney (Republican)
75% Gary Johnson (Libertarian)
70% Virgil Goode (Constitution)
53% Obama (Democrat)
5% Rocky Anderson (Justice)
3% Jill Stein (Green)

I am in agreement with 53% of all American voters on foreign policy, economics, immigration, domestic policy, environmental, and science issues.

No big surprises there, except that my Libertarian leanings aren't as close as I thought they'd be according to NPR.

That site, or one similar to it, was linked either here or on Facebook a while back. Can't remember which. Either way, I only vaguely remember where my results were, but I recall them being fairly strongly Romney as the top one(upper 70s, iirc).

Only surprise is that I have no idea who Jill Stein is (well, besides her party) or what she stands for. I'm not at all surprised that I lean more Libertarian than Democratic.

Totem, how do you know this is an NPR generated thing?

I thought it funny that in a political survey like this that the question has to be asked - "Do you believe in evolution?". Next reiteration of the survey should ask if you believe in legitimate rape.

Anyways, here's how I scored. I had a hard time with the 'how important is this issue' I wanted to check them all off as most important, but I did attempt to prioritize a bit.

Jill Stein Green on environmental, social, immigration, foreign policy, domestic policy, and healthcare issues - 92%

Gary Johnson Libertarian on social, domestic policy, healthcare, science, and immigration issues - 80%

Barack Obama Democrat on environmental, foreign policy, immigration, and economic issues - 79%

Mitt Romney Republican on science issues - 34%

Maine Voters on environmental, foreign policy, social, domestic policy, healthcare, and economic issues - 59%

American Voters on environmental, foreign policy, healthcare, domestic policy, immigration, economic, and science issues - 60%

I was:
91% Jill Stein
84% Barack Obama
75% Rocky Anderson
57% Gary Johnson
5% Mitt Romney

56% of NJ voters, 58% of American voters.

96% Democrat, 94% Green, 31% Libertarian, 1% Republican (lol)

[EDIT]

Obama was social, economic, science, healthcare, and environmental issues.
Stein was foreign policy, domestic policy, economic, environmental, science, immigration, and social issues.
Anderson was on foreign policy, social, and environmental issues.
Romney is literally nothing.

What's odd is that I don't see any reason it should say I don't side with Obama on domestic, because despite slightly different stances on copyright, we had the same answers.

I don't understand why the "show more answers" thing wasn't standard, tbh.

It'd be interesting to know: of the people who get matched best to a 3rd party candidate how many would actually consider voting for them?

I've voted 3rd party before, but won't in this instance. I think we need to get some governing done and I think an incumbent president will help with that - or at least hinder it less.

Besides, I've never heard of Ms. Stein either. Smiley: confused

They're basically unknowns in this race and therefor not worth considering. If they'd actually had a strong campaign and gained national recognition it might be a different story, but with how things are now all voting for them does is siphon votes away from the mainstream candidates.

I'd love to see Jill Stein have a shot at the white house and I'd rather have Gary Johnson than Romney, but Obama is the only candidate who will actually have the voter base to keep Romney away from the white house, so he's the only other candidate that matters.

If I wasn't in a so-called battleground state, sure. For example, if I was still in MA or DE. But in FL? Eh, I'd rather not chance it.

As is, I'd prefer to see some libertarian candidates in local, county, or state races instead. If they could gather up "grassroots" (ie, angry regular people buoyed by huge political talking heads) support like the Tea Party, I'd be happy to vote for them. But going from none to president is kinda like going from flying a kite to launching a rocket to the moon. Might want to take a few steps in between first.
