John Sununu in excerpt from an interview with Piers Morgan discussing Colin Powell's recent endorsement of President Obama (CNN).....

Quote:
"Frankly, when you take a look at Colin Powell, you have to wonder if that's an endorsement based on issues, or whether he's got a slightly different reason for preferring President Obama?" Sununu said on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight."

"What reason would that be?" a somewhat-perplexed sounding Morgan replied.

"Well, I think when you have somebody of your own race that you're proud of being President of the United States, I applaud Colin for standing with him," Sununu said.

Political correctness aside, do you think Colin's endorsement is at all swayed by the brotherly black bond?

How will the Romney contingent spin this and what will be the fate of Dear John?

edited for clarity.

Powell was embarrassed and had his international credibility ruined by the Bush administration. Small wonder he'd shy away from the policies Romney shares with his old boss no matter what race the other guy is.

I think the Romney camp will ignore it. The same way that nobody brings up the other view, in that will a white person vote for Romney because he is white (or more honestly, not black)?

Everyone has shunned President Bush, even from his own party, so it isn't too far fetched that he disagrees with the Republican way of thinking. I've seen both "Democrats for Romney" and "Republicans for Obama" signs and honestly, that's how it should be. I'm not necessarily FOR President Obama, but Governor ROmney has not presented himself as presidential. People shouldn't be aligning themselves specifically with a party, but ideas and the people who will carry them out.

That's because he wasn't successful and was very unpopular among voters at the end. Up until then, the GOP raptly repeated all his talking points and blamed any criticism of him on "liberals" and "the media".

From my understanding, he wasn't very popular during the second election.

Among the general populace? No. Among the GOP? All red, white and blue banners for the man. I refer you again to my cite.

I primarily remember Bush making a joke on his own low approval rating and people saying that they voted for Bush because they didn't want to change Presidents during war. That's all I remember.

Wednesday we we're talking about current events and the election in group with 2 female counselors, one black and one white. When I brought up the fact that I was seeing a lot of overt racism in comments on Facebook, the white one poo poo the idea that anyone was voting for Romney because of the fact that Obama didn't look like them (white) This was in a room with no other white in it. The woman sitting next to me started to argue with the white counselor and decided it wasn't worth the effort, since how it would look like as an African American against a White person. Instead she walked out of the room in disgust.

Living in an city with a large African American majority, I see daily how little America has actually come in creation of an Color Blind society. Too many whites like to pat themselves on the back, thinking they are above Racism, while still tightly holding on to their White Privileges. I will say honestly that I fail too often to remember this and that my friends can't move comfortably in the few white parts of the city due to their color. (White parts being Downtown, and the few neighborhoods that are still predominantly White.)

If my driving history is to be believed, I'm quite red/green colorblind.

No society will ever be "color blind". That isn't inherently negative, but it's unrealistic to believe that people will ignore physical differences.
