Isn't calling it a toasted grilled cheese sandwich just being redundant?

The grilling is what actually "toasts" the bread, isn't it?

Is there any other kind of grilled cheese sammich? I mean, I suppose you could throw a piece of cheese between two slices of untoasted bread and microwave it to melt the cheese, but EW EW EW.
I microwave it before putting it in the toaster oven, because the outside of the bread toasts faster than the cheese melts. Of course, this is only if I'm too lazy to make it in the skillet.

And I mean, if I'm going to use the skillet, I may as well make two slices of Spit-in-the-Ocean, and then put some cheese in the middle of them.

I've thrown a slice of cheese on toasted bread and microwaved it for 10-15 seconds. Good enough for government work.

Heathen. Everyone knows you microwave first, then toast.

Then I'd get cheese in my toaster. 'Sides, melted is melted.

Microwaving second can lead to soggy toast, and nobody wants that. Properly distribute the cheese so that upon microwaving, it does not exceed the boundaries of the bread. In the case that you are terrible at doing this, the bread may be laid upon a piece of foil before insertion into the toaster oven.

Note: Don't ******* microwave it on the foil, you *********

Microwaving for 15 seconds is enough to melt the cheese without significantly dampening the toast.

If you're going to both toast and microwave it anyway, why not just do it in the proper ******* order?

I don't have a toaster oven, for one. For two, I don't really give a shit about my 'grilled' cheese sandwiches aside from the bread being toasted and the cheese melted.

Why would you buy a regular toaster over a toaster oven? Does it really save that much more space? I'm truly curious, here.

Just use Cheeze-Wiz and crackers. You're one step away.

Because I only ever desire to use it to make toast.

Yeah, grilled cheese is already "Oh crap, we're out of real food" eatin'. I can't bring myself to take it seriously as an art.

The butter is a key component!

I guess you could butter the bread then put it in a toaster. Doesn't quite come out the same as in a frying pan though.

I'll happily admit that my way isn't as good as a proper sandwich. I just don't care enough about the difference to make any extra effort. Hence my "Good enough for government work" remark.

Good enough for communist government, maybe. Proper grilled cheese is an extension of American patriotism. Go back to Poland with your half-shod sandwiches.
