This headline grabbed my attention this morning....

State Senate Politics enters 'fantasy world'

The story is about politcal attack adds made against a woman running for state senate. She plays WoW.

The Republican site links to Lachowicz’s gamer profile, showing her character, Santiaga, and attributes a long list of blog posts on liberal website DailyKos.com to Lachowicz.


They've also found, and put up on their site, some disparaging remarks that Lachowicz made about Maine Gov. Lepage on a dailykos blog. The remarks are pretty tame considering the target, none-the-less they're not good statements to be made public when running for elected office.

Would you vote for a gamer for state senate?

I might vote for a EQer, but prolly not a WoWer....Smiley: lol

I don't really care what they do in the spare time so long as its not something illegal. If it became well known that they were walking around in leet gear that could only be obtained by the hardcore, 16+hour/day players, I'd likely change my mind and vote against, but otherwise, couldn't care less.

Well, that cuts out EQ players.

I wouldn't vote for an FFXI player. I'd be all "What is your plan to reduce the burden of state property taxes for corporations while still maintaining the state workers pension benefits they've paid into?" and they'd be all "lolbifrons".

I disagree. When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.

Apparently its news worth throwing a hissy fit over that Dem politicians post on the Dem political website DailyKos.

As to the WoW thing... I think this will come up more and more often. There are worse hobbies people can have. The odds of a politician being caught in a really racy sex tape gown down with the amount of MMOing they do.
