Most people are. Especially the ones that order everything off a menu and a diet drink.
I can't speak for everyone else who you see ordering, but I order diet pop because I'm diabetic and one glass of normal pop will do more damage to me than eating 3 entrees off of any menu.

Ah, eating at a fast food restaurant, ordering a diet soda, AND being a diabetic - the trifecta. Are you sure you haven't slipped south of the border?
You're the one who threw in Fast Food there.

I apologize, I didn't realize that it was even considered that people would order multiple entree sized portions at a sit-down restaurant.

Ugly said only that he orders diet soda because he's a diabetic, nothing about what he ordered with that diet soda. Might try pulling your head out of your ***.

I don't eat at many fast food joints much anymore, but I had noticed that it's getting to the point that they really aren't any cheaper than the better one-off places. That's relative to the amount of food you get, of course; you can always order off the dollar menu, but you're not getting much bang for your buck.

Combo meals in most fast food restaurants seem to range from $7-$10 now. For that price you can get a big, quality meal at a nicer place, even here in NYC.
Or 7-10 McDoubles. Unhealthy? Yeah, but not bad as far as "bang for your buck" is concerned.

Combo meals are a rip off. 2L at the store and just buy burgers.

Worst memory of my Jack-in-the-box stint was the Hispanic family that ordered 40 tacos at like 5:15pm from the drive through. Our little taco rack could cook 6 at a time, and took like 90 seconds in the frier plus assembly time.

yeah, I mean here it is different cause everything is pretty equally expensive but in Vancouver I could never ever ever see a reason to go to some crappy chain place when I could get an awesome bowl of prawn wonton soup for 5 bucks, or a 18 peice sushi combo with miso soup for 6 bucks or a falafal for 3 dollars, or 5 samosas for 4 dollars or w/e

I have a friend in Vancouver who swears it is cheaper to eat out than at home. She is right, at least, that it would be more expensive for her to make the sort of food she orders than it is to buy it from a restaurant - though the fat/salt/msg content would be better in home food...

I don't usually eat at fast food places, period, mostly because, well yuck. I do love having a burger now and again but we have really nice, delicious places where one can get a burger... so I see no need to spoil the burger experience with crummy multinational brands.

ALSO: I absolutely HATE restaurants that serve pre-prepared/frozen food. It's an abomination. If I wanted a frozen supermarket burger, I would buy one myself (yuck, I never do that... LOVE my homemade burgers!) - It's enraging because it if I knew they were going to serve me such slop I'd never give them a second glance. It's just so depressing when you try out somewhere new, pay 16 bucks for 3 tiny little seafood sliders on TERRIBLE buns and the patties are clearly frozen/preformed. SO FAIL.

Back in the day when none of us were trying to lose weight, we once went to McDonalds at ~1am and ordered 45 double cheeseburgers(back before the McDouble, when the 2 cheese versions were $1). That's all we ate all weekend.

And yes, it was through the drive-thru.

Smiley: lol We would inevitably send someone to Wendy's during a party for a food run. They'd go through the drive-thru and order food for 10+ people, usually multiple Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers per person.

Probably the best thing for my health was when they closed the Wendy's that was about a block away.
