So it's better then ZAM, but it still stops scaling at a certain point. 1280 is much nicer already though, I'm not sure I'd actually want a 1680 width forum.

The advantage of a wider screen resolution (IMO) is the ability to zoom the text so that it's much more readable without mucking up the layout. Here's my 1680x150 screen with the zam.com skin.

No sense in straining the eyes unnecessarily. Why would anyone want to forego a larger text size in the name of preserving "whitespace" around the page?

Apparently I can't zoom in that far. Even level 9 is pretty useless though.

I like to have the text be approximately the same size as on my other tabs, so I'm not constantly adjusting my eyes as I go amongst them. Some other sites make better use of the existing space, so my ZAM page is not zoomed in as much as I could.

It isn't. Apperently part of the justification is that only 20% of non premium users ever even see the existing ads because of adblock.

The problem is that by making the forum itself have a set maximum width, with the rest of the window taken up by the ad and/or black space at the edges, there's no reason other than to see the extra ad or blackspace to have your screen wider than that maximum width. So no one will see the new stuff even if they don't block ads *unless* they view the forum in a wider screen. Which they now have no reason to do unless they just like extra wide borders around the forum.

The good news is that this appears to have been fixed. Yay!

Just for the sake of informations... I view zam at 1366x768 on a 32 inch monitor... with the zam.com skin... but I use stylish to make zam widescreen compatible. Don't know the link offhand but if you use stylish then it should be easy enough to find.

I don't really understand this, do you routinely change the size of your browser depending on what site you're on? That's seems very strange, and way too much work.

Gbaji is old school. He uses multiple browser windows instead of tabs.

No. That's the point though. The ugly black bars of doom would make me have to. Without them, I can comfortably tab to multiple sites I've got loaded and they all look good in wide format. Some of them require wider format in order to avoid scroll bars. With the change, I'd tab back to Alla's and be like "WTF!?".

Premium on the Warhammer skin means that the forum is pinned to a charmingly neutral castle wall.

It's not quite the All Saints' Church in Wittenberg, and none of the controversys have lead to war, conversion, or reformation, but one can hope. Smiley: grin

LOL at the giant video GW2 as that takes up 95 percent of the screen on my phone. Time to find an ad blocker for my phone as well, I guess.

If you use the Dolphin Browser HD, there's an ad-blocking add-on for it. Apparently it only removes the browser's internal ads.

Funny; the EQ skin still works fine (no ads) on my phone...

That was with the stock zam.com skin. In the rare times that I use my phone to go on the forums, I just type "zam asylum" into the search and it takes me there.
