I know half the internet was down, but I was under the impression that it was related to a Go Daddy DNS issue, or some such other nonsensical tech-babble. Was ZAM's outtage related?

I never lost access to Zam. I've been on all day, unless it went down for minutes. Or was this yesterday? I wasn't on as much yesterday.

Hmm. I hadn't gotten past "sending request" at the site for hours. Probably unrelated, but it coincided some with this.

Maybe they were only blocking us...because I had an hour or so with no zam today as well. Kept trying to load the OOT (thats what I have set as my zam home page) and redirected to avg all day. (avg installed so my browser defaults to their search page)

Maybe your computer is one of the zombie boxes being used to DDOS godaddy. Do you have a decent up to date antivirus and whatnot? Also are you behind a router, etc.

In the past two days I've noticed my AV throwing up blocked urls when going to Wikipedia; could this be a part of whatever this problem is?

I'm working on a new computer (5 days) with an up to date anti-virus, so I doubt it's my computer being a zombie box.

I was getting the text form pages as well (with long timeouts involved). I did notice at one point that the bar at the bottom was saying it was connecting to facebook, while attempting to load the Zam main page (and stuck). Usually, that means that the ads are loading from some third party site and that site is borked up. Didn't spend any time debugging beyond "it's borked" though.

I suppose it's possible. Was on my work comp; I'm sure our security is woeful.

Anyways, I'm sure it's something China orchestrated.

Eh, good point. I suppose many of our ads came from Godaddy servers. That makes sense that it wasn't annoying the premium users.

No, that is not normal. It's symptomatic of those viruses that trigger when certain websites are accessed with a redirect. that or your AV is throwing a false positive for wikipedia for some reason. It seems to be fine for me though. You might want to do an updated malwarebytes scan on your computer from safemode to be safe though.

I am a premium user though so the ad thing would not count..oh god time to deplore more security.

I have premium, and I've accessed it from both my PC (whose security I'm fairly confident in) and my phone. Both from behind my router, and on Verizon's wireless network.

If it was flickering on and off, it's possible I was just never around for the down phases. Was on at least every couple of hours, though.

So is there a reason I'm seeing a massive WoW add that seems half on one side of the screen and half on the other? The entire forum is squished into a little box in the middle now (that includes the banner space on the right side of that box, which makes it *really* tiny).

The site was giving me issues yesterday, although not nearly as badly as many other sites, which simply weren't loading at all.

Other sites loaded fine with no issues.

If they got zombie control of this PC, they did it in the last four days because I just reinstalled Windows after formatting the hard drives on Saturday.

Because you have yet to right click on it and add the Zam forum skins to your AdBlock list.

Ok. But this just started happening literally in the last hour, and I don't think it's about skin, but forum layout (which I suppose one could argue is the same thing, but whatever).

Also, why am I getting a WoW ad, when I'm using the EQ theme? Just to be clear, it's not so much an ad as some new border that appears on the sides of what used to be the whole screen, taking up massive space in my web window. And it doesn't look right at that. The right side has what looks like the left half of something, and the left side has the right half of it. The logo for WoW is split in half along the side boundaries of the page. So like 09. and half a 2 runs up to the right border of my window, and a 5.12 starts out on the left border.

It's not just taking up space, but is pretty dorked as well.

I've no idea. But I had the same thing happen 10 minutes or so ago and AdBlocked it into oblivion.

It's a graphic that wraps around the center container. It's fully visible at 1680x1050. Even at a lesser resolution, it should be pretty clear what it is.

I get what it is. I'm just curious why it's there. And yes, I get that it's an advertisement for a new WoW expansion. My point is the positioning of the graphic takes up a ridiculous amount of real estate in my web browser. Doubly silly when I'm reading even a semi long page, since the graphic only goes down about one page, so the whole way down I've got like a 2 inch black border around what used to be the entire screen just a few hours ago.

I don't mind ads in a box on the side or the top. But to have an ad for the Pandaria expansion at the top, then two largish ad columns on each side of the center frame with more Pandaria pics, and then *another* random add box on the right side of that center frame is pretty darn ridiculous. Literally (and I'm not meaning figuratively here), half of the horizontal space in my web browser is being taken up with ads.

Hell. Put it in the normal ad box if you're that concerned about revenue. Have it in there when on a main screen, with a random ad when inside a thread. Whatever. Just don't double stack them like that (triple stacked really).
