In less than 12 hours, the President of the United States will be giving a speech literally right across the street from where I live, at the Florida Institute of Technology. I wasn't able to get tickets for my family to see him up close, but I'm hoping I'll at least be able to hear what's going on just by standing outside my apartment. All the roads will be blocked off apparently and I have no idea how I'm going to get to work, but I'm excited nonetheless.

I'm not one to make a big deal about celebrities, but for some reason its just a huge honor to be in such close proximity to the President. Even when George W. Bush was in office, I felt honored when he waved to my little brothers from his motorcade, even though I wasn't there, even though I loathed him. It's kind of depressing to also see all the haters gearing up. I'm actually kind of worried. Florida Teabaggers are a particularly uncouth species, and here in Melbourne, the typical Obama supporter can be pretty aggressive as well.

I didn't get to see him... but my brother and mother got to meet him up close and personal!

My little brother Jacob is the kid in the orange shirt. I'm still waiting to hear from them why I wasn't invited to this or how they got such an opportunity.

Once upon a time, lolgaxe was in Hawaii and Clinton was doing a speech at the hotel he was at. Now, lolgaxe wasn't interested in the speech itself, so the most he did was watch out the window and played spot the secret service agent. Not very good at the disguise thing, what with their Hawaiian shirts, black sunglasses and earpieces. Was kind of a fun game.

Did you stand outside and listen?

I'm still tickled to have been at Obama's post-election rally back in 2008. Good times.

Apperently the town has a new event: The standing presidential vertivcal lift. If you can lift the president to a hight of 3 feet before the secret service shoots you, you win! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/09/obama-picked-up-photo_n_1868870.html

Back in the nineties, Clinton and Yeltsin held their summit about six miles from my home. It was neat seeing all the military equipment parked on the lawn of the FDR Library, and the G-men and K-men directing traffic and hanging out at the Mickey Dee's. My friend's mother tried asking an agent if they're allowed to vote in presidential elections, and what happens if they vote for the loser. The intensity with which she was ignored was impressive.

Secret service didn't seem to mind, but the American Taliban did.
