Uh oh... Akins says "Hell no, I won't go!"

Political Wire wrote:
Rep. Todd Akin (R-M) said that despite some media reports, he is not leaving the Missouri U.S. Senate race, Politico reports.

Said Akin: "I was told that there is a decision has to be made by 5 o'clock tomororw but I was calling you and letting you know that I'm announcing today that we're (staying) in."

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch quotes Akin saying, "I'm not a quitter."

That was the impression I took from his Hannity interview so I'm not surprised. Of course, Nate Silver earlier tweeted that the problem here was that anyone stupid enough to say his remark wouldn't be smart enough to know to drop out. So there's that as well.

I liked Nate Silver's earlier tweet, something like "Is it possible to win with 0% of the women's vote? Asking for a friend."

No, because of women like Ann Romney, who "knows her place" (according to a quote from one of her friends).

See, this isn't a war on women. It's a war on women who don't know their place.

The Republican Party is once again set to enshrine into its official platform support for "a human life amendment" to the Constitution that would outlaw abortion without making explicit exemptions for rape or incest, according to draft language of the platform obtained exclusively by CNN late Monday.

And to think some people still pretend the abortion issue is "states right" thing and not really about a blanket ban at the federal level.

You know, if you watch Cinderella backwards it's a story about a woman learning her place.

Speaking of Todd Akin, looks like he's trending.

Maybe NSFW, depending how weenie your associates are.

So now Akin is saying all the fuss is over his misuse of one word. Which word does he believe is the problem, I wonder.

I'm guessing it's either "legitimate" or "rape."

Wrong on both accounts.

It's "women".

"female" but it just don't work right with the next comment.

Don't be absurd. You can't misuse women. They're just things.

I believe he's trying to replace "legitimate" for "forcible" which doesn't really make it much better. Although it does fit into the GOP idea that rape only counts if you leave marks.

I ruined the joke by editing my comment to be an actual word that was used in the statement, not just implied. I apologize. (In fact, I'll edit it back just for you)

Romney (eventually) tells him to quit.

Akin refuses to listen to the Pubbie Presidential Candidate.

Makes Romney look somewhat lacking in authoritative oooomph.

The Iranianssure are going to have a good ol' laugh at him if he gets all uppity and tells them to quit with the nuclear thingies....Or else!

So, even if you leave marks on the doe-goat, it fails to reach the level of legitimate rape.

Therefore the federal gov. shouldn't fund goat abortions..

Apparently Akin has been getting a swell in donations in the wake of the controversy.

There's an insane feedback loop in the republican party now. They're rewarded for bombastic stupidity by their constituents, in whose eyes they can do no wrong.

This is so weird. Akin says something scientifically wrong, gets raked over the coals for it by both parties & even Rush. Yet, the GOP, at their convention this week, plan on making a constitutional amendment against abortion, with no exceptions for rape or incest their party's official platform. This isn't a mistake, mind you, like that typo in the bill a couple months back. Amendments were offered to include these exceptions, but were defeated.

Maybe I live in a bubble here in Massachusetts, but Scott Brown (R-Senate) thinks this is ridiculous (it is). Sure, he can't beat Warren here & support outlawing all abortion, but I don't think Republicans can win the Presidency, let alone take the Senate & not lose House seats if this is their platform.

Thank you Akin?

I'd think that was pretty obvious for anyone that spends more than a few minutes in Asylum territory.
