Started a new hardcore diet three weeks ago, which first helps unclog your liver and colon, then you stick to foods that do not have high fructose corn syrup and other things. I've lost ten pounds in the past three weeks, yay!

How can your liver get "clogged" ? Your colon, certainly that can be stopped up. Kidneys can get kidney stones, bladders can get infections...

But your liver is more of a solid meaty mass of enzymes than a filtering system. I guess the bile ducts can get clogged up - but that usually only happens when you don't eat enough fat or you have cancer.

This is from the plan I am on regarding the liver:

Quote:
If you find yourself eating a large amount of processed foods, dairy products, red
meat, preservatives, etc., you are ingesting an enormous amount of toxins. These toxins
overwhelm your two main detoxification organs…that’s right, you guessed it: your liver
and your colon. Since this happens over a long period of time, your liver and colon
become sluggish, slowing your metabolism.
Guess what they also do?
Shuttle excess toxins into fat cells. In most people, this fat is shuttled to the belly, butt,
hips, or thighs. The areas close to those 2 organs.
Liver Function
The liver is like a complicated filter. Its purpose is to breakdown fat and filter out harmful
substances via bile. Bile is the substance that removes waste from the organs and blood
The liver re-circulates bile acids through the system such that the entire bile pool recycles
through the entero-hepatic system six to eight times a day. If this re-circulated fluid is
high in fat and/or toxins, the process leads to excessive weight gain, making it almost
impossible to lose weight permanently.
Now, if the liver does not regulate fat metabolism efficiently, weight gain tends to
occur around the belly area and a protuberant abdomen (also know as a pot belly)
will develop. Another sign of an unhealthy liver can be a roll of fat around the upper
abdomen. This is a sure sign of a clogged up, slowly functioning liver. If the liver filter
is damaged, blocked or clogged up with toxins and excess waste, it can’t remove the
small fat globules that circulate in the blood stream. These extra globules then build up in other organs and in fatty deposits under the skin, which can lead to cellulite in your
butt, thighs, arms, and belly.
Until the liver function is improved, it is almost impossible to lose this abdominal fat.
That’s one of the major reasons we get fatter as we age. Basically, when your liver is
clogged with junk, you become fat, no matter how much “dieting and exercise” you do.
Ever wonder why whenever you would diet and stop, you’d gain the weight right back?
Clean out your liver properly and it will turn right back into the fat burning, metabolism boosting
organ it once was.

So the first two and half weeks was working on purging toxins built up in the body and flushing them out. The rest of the diet is mainly trying to eat as much organic, unprocessed, and free ranged food as possible, with allowances for cheat days. I have tried so many things with zero results. This is the first time ever, combined with exercise five times a week (which I did before with no results) that I am steadily losing weight, steadily losing inches, and my energy levels have skyrocketed. The food tastes amazing, its easy to do and I'm excited. I'm actually having a ball planning out and cooking meals. Crap. Maybe Im becoming domesticated.... Smiley: glare

Which toxins are they talking about, though? I hear "your body is filled with toxins from over processed foods" all the time, but they never get into details. I'm not scared of long chemical names; I took organic chemistry.

Very happy to hear it's working well for you all the same. As long as you're losing weight and you feel great, it's doing something right. Smiley: nod

No clue. Im sure it says it somewhere, getting into the whole science of it all, but the damn thing is like 8 PDF files, some with up to 40 pages. If I see it I'll let you know. But yeah, it's working, Im not losing scary fast, but steady, and I seriously can't believe the energy upswing. Smiley: grin

It sounds like less work to just have my liver replaced with one from a poor Indonesian child. What would that run me?

For the price of just one small coffee a day, you can care for a poor Indonesian child. Help feed, educate, and groom his organs for their forthcoming transfer into your own body.

It might work. You also might start craving rice, water buffalo, and coconut milk if you go that route.

Had a coworker ask me if I'd lost weight, which was a nice little confidence boost. Also went to one of the starter climbing session at the weekend and it made me think of how I was when I first started and how much progress I've made in the year I've been doing it. It's nice that I've found exercise classes that I actually look forward to doing each week :)

Won a free 30 minute personal trainer session. Might do that on my birthday. Smiley: laugh
