While cutting out milk might be the right decision for some people (depending on how much they consume/their tolerance etc) for many/most people it wouldn't make much if any difference, I know it wouldn't for me.

I consume far more calories from eating sweets than having milk in my coffee - so it makes way more sense for me to cut down those completely empty calories than to cut out something that isn't, in moderate quantities, unhealthy, and that brings me a lot of joy. (I cut sugar out of my coffee but cutting out milk is a non-starter.)


Trolling aside, everything in moderation is really the point. If you have 2oz of a milk a day in your coffee, that's minimal and is definitely not what is making you fat. But when you factor in the "sweets" (pastries? butter? cream?) that's more cow fat. Then you factor in all the eggs. That's chicken fat. Then on top of all that, the empty sugar calories, and the fatty meats, all that **** adds up. Quibbling over milk in your coffee or the occasional bowl of cereal is moot. I'm saying, from my experience, even pre-veganism, I found soy milk/rice milk/almond milk to be a very good substitute in many cereals, and they make soy/coconut/almond creamer to put in coffee, which is definitely a decent substitute.

It's trying those substitutes and finding things that work for you that help you cut out calories that you have an emotional dependance on, because you can create that same emotional connection with something that tastes almost just the same, without slowly killing yourself in the process.

Now that the weather is nicer, I've been walking more regularly. I haven't fretted about my weight for a while and was happily surprised to weigh myself the other day and see that I hadn't gained anything back. Haven't lost more (nor was I putting any effort into it) but haven't backslid either.

I've done that, while spreading half a jar's worth of peanut butter on them. And washing them down with a glass of sweetened almond milk.

My very favorite cheese I used to get growing up in mpls was colby-longhorn. It came in a tube shape covered in wax. It was holey like swiss but a mild mild cheddar (ie colby). When fresh it was just SO tasty.

I've never seen it's like anywhere out here on the east coast. I didn't think about it when back in the cities last month.

Kemps ice cream, especially their chocolate, is another midwest dairy treat I miss.

Down two pounds this week, I think I was down three last. So far I've been losing every week. I was in Chicago last Friday for an amazing concert that I've been waiting to see for years. I originally intended to hit one local restaurant and also to get a combo beef sandwich (my favorite sandwich). I ended up getting a philly cheese on garlic and cheese fries from Phillys Best and I got a gyro and fry. Kind of bummed I missed out on the sandwich but going to attempt my own this week. I know I'm still shrinking down by the fit of my clothing so I have to assume that I'm still putting on muscle. My daily stationary bike routine is now 40 minutes and I'm able to maintain 120-150 BPM for my heartrate the entire time.

We weighed in this morning for our biggest loser thing so two pounds isn't at all bad, considering I had pasta salad, two chili dogs, and probably 2-3 servings of chips for dinner last night. No I don't eat garbage every meal and my breakfast yesterday was a serving of cheerios and lunch was a cabbage/sprout/onion salad with low fat/low cal homemade asian dressing, carrots, and an apple/banana/grape fruit salad with nothing added.

Down a total of 23.6lbs since I first weighed at my doctor appointment on 8/15.

Typical Cats. I don't really picture you as a listener of Hip-Hop. Their last album was released in 2003 and they're releasing their third album today. They pretty much went eight years without a peep of anything new. I first heard them in 2002 and have wanted to see them live since. It was at the Bottom Lounge.

Sweet. Nope, not a hip-hop listener here but was curious anyway.

I spent this past weekend in a Trump Tower hotel room. Trump may be a big doof but he makes a pretty sweet skyscraper. Plus we got free champagne!

I also picked up a popcorn air popper last week. Three tablespoons of popcorn kernels sprayed with that fake butter spray (no calories/fat) gives the popcorn a surface for the seasonings to latch onto and is a very reasonable snack for what you get out of 100 calories air popped, verses the tiny serving you get from a bag. Makes for a pretty good snack on the nights where I get hungry between dinner/bed.

It's easy to air pop popcorn in a sauce pan with a lid, with a little olive oil. Really tasty. Just heat the oil up with a couple kernels, wait for them to pop, then add the rest of it to the oil, then put the lid back on. After it starts popping for 10-15 seconds take it off the heat.

If you can find nutritional yeast at your grocery store, you can add a cheesy flavor coating with very very few calories, and lots of nutrients.

Yeah, making popcorn is incredibly easy with a saucepan, there's no need for secret techniques or specialist equipment.

The reason I bought the air popper is twofold. First, I don't want to deal with an oily pan (this is the major reason I bought the air popper). Chances are that I want to get back to what I was watching or doing right away. Second, even when using a minimal amount of oil, it is still adding additional fat. The air popper bypasses that and pops via hot air alone. I did read about the yeast thing on another site and will be trying that at some point, I appreciate you bringing it up.
