Whelp, gone are the days of overtly installing puppet governments friendly to US businesses. Now we do it by killing the uppity ones via remote control. It takes longer & costs more $, but way fewer casualties on our side.

To be fair, Putin is always the scariest motherfucker in any given room.

Dude made millions before he was President by writing a BOOK. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Smash was Thundra!

You know the scariest part of this is that, when discussing the first generation of forum dwellers, I can name what class most of them played in Everquest. Samira was a druid, Smash a warrior, Gbaji had a paladin and a wizard, Thundra was a monk (and then beastlord), Totem a shaman, Kao a ranger, etc.

I haven't watched the whole thing (and won't) but it sounds like there's no more big bombshell quotes. Plenty of stuff to reinforce what you already think, good or bad, but nothing to make headlines.

Which probably explains why Mother Jones was happy enough to post the whole thing at this point rather than milking it.

Ya ive watched about half of it now, and for the most part the big hit stuff has already been put out there. I am more or less just watching to see if any clever editing was done. As such (about 25 minutes into part 1) the sound bytes (or vid bytes?) are full sections and not clever editing.

But ya, might not be any reason to watch the whole thing, first 10 minutes is just him talking about his life or whatever, you know rich folks stuff and keeping it in the family.

Although it is funny his trip to China story. Visiting a sweat shop that he bought lol.

Huh, turns out he's a rich entitled douchebag who thinks he made it through hard work and that his advantages at birth are just coincidence.

Shocking.

There is a lot of pressure being born into a wealthy, influential white family in the US. I mean it's not like you can just fail over and over and run businesses into the ground in a drunken haze before buying a baseball team and succeed in politics. You still have to WORK at it, just like anyone else...

Romney's 47% comment breakdown. Hammer on your own voters, seems legit.

and a fancy article explaining it. (for those who like facts.)
http://taxfoundation.org:81/article/states-vary-widely-number-tax-filers-no-income-tax-liability

Also this is kind of funny:

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/327793/romney-campaign-borrowed-20-million-robert-costa#

Quote:
Before the Republican National Convention, Mitt Romney was the Republican nominee in all but name. By law, however, he could only spend primary donations until he officially became nominee. To increase cash flow during the interregnum, the Romney campaign borrowed $20 million.

“We realized that we could collateralize this debt with $20 million of general-election funds that were already sitting in our bank account,” a senior Romney aide says, speaking exclusively with National Review Online.

Isn't Romney worth like 250 million? 20 million should be pocket change.

Candidates rarely enjoy spending their own money on campaign operations. That's what donors are for.

But who is going to pay back that money when the election is over? the GOP? They backed the investment with the General Election fund, when that money is gone the 20 mil is now an unbacked loan, thus the GOP could technically just not bother paying it back, and not lose any initial assets in return.

Sure they will get nasty phone calls from creditors, but in all honesty would you donate to the GOP after the fact to help them pay off election bills they couldn't afford in the first place? (assuming of course you were a GOP supporter).

Why would they have any difficulty paying it back? They had the money, but it was held up for legal reasons, so they paid a bit of cash to use other peoples money instead of their own until their account was unlocked.

Yes, happens every election. The money people know it's not just about this election. They're not little people.

I only said that because in the article says they will be having a fundraising drive to repay the remainder of the loan.

Quote:
When federal election reports are released later this week, they’ll show debt of $15 million, but the campaign’s actual debt is roughly $11 million. The campaign will soon begin fundraising to pay off the remainder.

As I recall, Romney sank a substantial amount of his own money into his failed 2008 primary run. I'm guessing doing it a second time didn't sound too appealing.
