There ya go. New campaign slogan!

Romney/Ryan 2012: If it looks like I'm going to win, the markets will be happy,...without actually doing anything.

The thing is, I feel like those videos are about as genuine as anything else, which is barely. He was obviously telling that group of people what they wanted to hear so they would raise him millions of dollars. I mean, this:

Quote:
They'll probably be looking at what the polls are saying. If it looks like I'm going to win, the markets will be happy. If it looks like the president's going to win, the markets should not be terribly happy. It depends of course which markets you're talking about, which types of commodities and so forth, but my own view is that if we win on November 6th, there will be a great deal of optimism about the future of this country. We'll see capital come back and we'll see—without actually doing anything—we'll actually get a boost in the economy. If the president gets re-elected, I don't know what will happen. I can– I can never predict what the markets will do. Sometimes it does the exact opposite of what I would have expected. But my own view is that if we get a "Taxageddon," as they call it, January 1st, with this president, and with a Congress that can't work together, it's— it really is frightening.

is gibberish, and he doesn't even believe in it. Just a skeazy businessman being skeazy trying to swindle people out of their money.

The only problem being when someone besides the intended audience hears it.

Nah, a non-zero portion of dedicated R voters are giant Jim Kramer watching hyperventilating market timers. It's irrelevant in the grand scheme of economic trending.

The markets are currently about 550 points from their all time high and have gone up around 6,930 points since their crater in January 2009. I'm not sure what sort of added exuberance we're supposed to see from them.

I expect to see more of the same, based on current polling.

Edit: To clarify; steady growth, not stagnation.

He was responding to a question about a study showing that in order for his economic plan to work, he would have to eliminate tax deductions for folks earning more than $100k. GS asked "Is $100k middle class?", but it's clear in context that he was really asking if $100k was some kind of cut off point for being "middle class" with everyone above that being "rich". Romney's answer only seems awkward if you don't read the bits leading up to it. It's clear in context that he was saying that middle class extends upwards to the $200-$250k range, not that it starts at that point.

No, that wasn't his intent, at all. Setting aside your magic xray assumptron view into Romney's brain, let's assume for a moment what you say was true.

Using your view of this:

1. Romney indicates people earning $100k-$250k (or households? I mean how do you raise a family on that pittance?? but I digress) are middle class. With $250k being the upper bound.
2. Romney's economic plan pays for itself by eliminating tax deductions for people making more than $100k, including, obviously, those who make $100k-$250k
3. Eliminating these deductions will raise taxes on those unable to take advantage of them any longer.

To sum up: Gbaji view of Romney's economic plan - Raise taxes on the middle class.

Thanks for making such a salient argument, you @#%^ing buffoon.

Romney's speech about the "tape" is funny. "It was a QA! It was about how to win votes. Nothing to do with the fact that I hate poor people....or was it I don't care for poor people, I don't remember so please post a full video so I can remember"

(paraphrased ever so slightly.)

Also lol @Romney talking about lowering taxes on the 10-15% of people he wants to sway, when Obama has already lowered taxes on that 10-15% and only wants the super rich to pay their fair share. Honestly how is this guy even running for president. He is like a dude Sarah Palin.

Romney's comments caught on tape were a nice little window into his over-all philosophy of socio-economics in the US - turned me off more from him more than anything else I've seen or heard during this campaign.

The warroom term I heard was 'closed minded democrat', because it plays well with both the base, independents/ borderlines who see themselves as 'open minded' (read:. guilible) voters, rather than party affiliates.

I'm sure when the cleaning lady comes in to clean later that morning, she replaces the cap on the toothpaste.

Also, they have toothpaste that doesn't require you to remove a cap but to just flip up the cover.
