Romney is doing so well he's changed the rules now to ban any media from his Jerusalem events. I'm truly impressed with how he can handle himself on the foreign stage.

Does that mean we get to see the Daily Show make animated shorts of what may have happened during it, like the Royal Wedding?

Romney: US has "Moral" duty to block Iranian nuclear plans

English media are piling on the hate for good reason as he's quickly become public enemy #1 for Englishmen, to over-take our own Conservative Prime-Minister in that aspect is a REAL achievement.
To echo what has already been said: What's pissed us Brits off so much about Romney is that we feel mocked by the potential future president of the American people - and after all that has happened between the US and the UK with Afghanistan and Iraq, with all the servicemen and women who have died not to mention the budget defecit that's resulted from two campaigns... It's really insulting.

Now he goes over to Israel and wants to start war with Iran if he gets elected? Right-wingers in the states say they cannot afford another term of Obama, the rest of the world says the world cannot afford another republican @#%^-nugget, gung-ho US president. We're still sorting out the mess left behind by the last one for god's sake.

Oh yeah, before certain people say "It's the LIBERAL media that are hating" - Bullsh*t: Sky News is owned by Rupert Murdoch, a notorious right-winger who supported the Conservative Party during the last election.
When the right-wing media of your closest ally are hating you that means you're @#%^ed.

Obama may have been lacking in his first term but to the rest of the world, he's the lesser of two evils.

Edit: He might be hard to understand for some due to his accent but here George Galloway crushes a tool who thinks war with Iran is a good idea. It gets really hilarious towards the end.

The point of the trip is to draw a contrast with The One’s oafish insistence on insulting the British after he took office, from removing the bust of Churchill in the Oval Office to this immortal moment of narcissistic idiocy. Romney’s going to restore the “special relationship” and his first step in doing so is by gladhanding every Brit in sight. (He even mentioned the Churchill bust today.) It’s the easiest diplomatic task imaginable. And yet, somehow, when Brian Williams tossed him a softball about whether British preparations looked okay, the executive/consultant within couldn’t resist a few criticisms. Baffling. This week is nothing but a big photo op, yet somehow it already involves Boris Johnson sneering at “a guy called Mitt Romney” at an Olympics rally. Good lord.

Liberal media attacks!!!

Check out "Blackadder". Series 2 onwards, though. Series I is too reminiscent of Bean.

I thought the opening ceremony was good. I've never been a huge Bean fan, but I liked his bit - it was very Britty. I liked the forging of the gold rings (NOT REAL GOLD!). I really liked the dance with the house and the lost cell phone and the meeting of the young lovers and music and lights and dancing... and the world wide web guy (NOT AL GORE).

l It was less showy than Beijing's but more purposeful.

Edit - Oh and Queen Mother Bond Girl dropping in by parachute was a riot. Daniel Craig trying to hold a straight face and the Royal pooches all played their part well.

I thought it was nice. There were times when I was kind of like "Huh-wha?" but I thought it came together nicely. I liked the cauldron.

What's his name who directed it said straight out that they couldn't top Beijing for spectacle (since England doesn't have a million synchronized drummers to throw at it) so they weren't even going to try but rather do their own thing. I think they did it well.

Romney says that Israel's GDP is higher than Palestine's because of "cultural" differences. Not because, you know, Palestine is occupied and embargoed.

He was also comically wrong about the GDP disparity.

The liberal jerks at the Wall Street Journal wrote:
As he wrapped up the Israel leg of his foreign trip, Mr. Romney reflected on Israel's economic success to a gathering of pro-Israel campaign donors at the King David Hotel, remarks that noted gaps between the Jewish state and its neighbor. Later he suggested that Israel's culture played a role in its economic success.

"As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality." Mr. Romney told a group of donors gathered at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.
[...]
But Mr. Romney's figures Monday were inaccurate and underestimated the actual GDP gap between the economies. Per capita GDP stood at $31,400 for Israel last year, while Palestinians' per capita GDP was $1,500 in 2010, according to an April 2012 World Bank report, which attributed the figure to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.

Another gold medal in diplomacy!

Gotta tell ya, I'm Canadian, and watching Mitt Romney try to play it cool on his politics of rock tour is bloody hilarious. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion, with the old school purple, built in China, transformer train, going the wrong way, on the wrong track, in the wrong country.

That guy has probably done more damage to the US' global image in a few days than all of the US tourists that ever left your borders combined. We're all just dumbfounded that half of your population would even consider putting such an idiot in power. That guy is dangerously stupid about everything but his own bank accounts.

Who the hell leaves their country to run an election campaign anyway? Just the act of campaigning outside of your country has ruined any shred of global rep he might have managed to put together as President.

He will always be that idiot we saw on TV now. Seriously, the one gripe the world has with the US is its superiority complex and the first two things this dude does is tell the British they don't know what they're doing with the Olympics and all but decide to start a war with Iran if he's elected..I'm just sitting here switching between "who the #$%^ do you think you are?" and "this dude's gonna kill a lot of people."

But while we are speaking about the Olympics I gotta ask you and/or other people from across the pond what the hell was with that opening ceremony you guys put on?

That was absolutely God awful!!! You had how many years to put this thing together? And the best you can come up with is dancing nurses, Mary Poppins, David Beckham and Rowan Atkinson? (btw nobody else but you Europeans think this guy if funny in anyway).

It was more relevant than you would know or ever care to learn. It showcased some of the best parts of our history,
The nurses and doctors symbolized the National Health Service (NHS) which is the real crown jewel of the UK and one of the best things we have ever come up with.
You saw the evolution of our culture, from rural life to the industrial revolution to the world war to the modern day.
David Beckham was horse-shoed in because he got screwed out of a place on our Olympic team.
Rowan Atkinson and J.K Rowling have become cultural icons to us over the years and deserved to be there because of their global contributions to comedy and literature.

It was really well received over here and in most places abroad from what I gather, sorry if you're not open-minded enough to get it - should we have included more flag waving?

I'm an Anglophile myself, but the Mr. Bean and James Bond segments were the only thing I really enjoyed out of that whole ceremony. Also, apparently the US didn't get to see the 7/7 tribute segment. We didn't miss much, to be honest.

Ah, I was wondering where that Phelps interview came from. Stupid decision to cut that segment...and for what, yet another interview where we ask a pothead about his ambitions?

Meh. Well, here are some Olympic-related tweets. They're a mixed bag, but there's a couple of good ones.

My favorite:
