There is only one proper way to drive an automatic transmission and that is with your right foot. If you are using your left foot to do anything other than tap out the rythym to the song on the radio, then YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

Ok, Elinda, I need to know why on earth you'd ever choose to drive a Soul-- which in my estimable and weighty opinion is a four wheeled abomination in design. Pray tell, some one gave you the car and you did not make payments on it.

It got people to think that a car that Elinda says is the most boring car she's ever driven (or anyone's ever driven I suppose) to think it's fun and interesting and exciting. So I'd argue that it was quite effective.

My ex-wife bought one when we were still together. They're not terrible cars, but they're also not much more than a Focus with a different (and less aerodynamic, I would wager) shape.
Oh, Elinda, do you have the speakers that glow and pulsate with the beat of the music? That's a kinda cool feature of the Soul.
I note that you are no longer together. Perhaps it was due to irreconcilable differences in automobile taste? Quite understandable that, seeing as she succumbed to ads featuring gerbils break dancing...

I've only driven automatic and that makes me sad. I understand how a manual works but I don't have any experience driving one. That being said, left foot should never be touching a pedal that isn't the clutch. Well.. that's not exactly true. With an FF you can use left foot braking to stabilize the car when cornering at high speeds, since you want to have your right foot keeping the accelerator down. But that's not exactly something you should be doing while driving normally.

I test drove it and thought it was kind of 'big' and not as responsive as my Mazda and a bit stodgy. My husband, who's a pretty big guy, really liked the car though.
I've been getting about 31-32mpgs pretty consistently, which is acceptable I guess.

He was referring to my wife and I no longer being together. She also purchased a Soul. I had nothing agianst the car. It drove decently, had a little gitupandgo, got good gas mileage, and was roomy enough to comfortably fit my overweight 6'4" frame. I just think she could have gotten just as good of a car, with better gas mileage, and for a lot less, by buying a Focus.

The company I work for has a deal with Ford where I get any car they sell for invoice plus incentives (rebate, special financing, whathaveyou), so the Focus would have been a lot cheaper. Also, this was before the new style of Focus came out, so the Foci were a lot cheaper. The Focus can be tought for flexibility challenged folk to get into and out of, but it doesn't lack on headroom.

And while I suppose you could call it trolling (but then, what isn't?). It was more a desire to put a topic for discussion that I knew people would have disagreements on, but that had nothing to do with politics, guns, etc.
