Woooo!

My sister is coming back from a month in Abu Dhabi for work, and my cousin just moved a few miles away, so we're having a big family dinner. Other than that, I'll be playing some Witcher 2, and lamenting the $10 I wasted on Two Worlds 2.

You're early, but I won't complain since I have tomorrow off. I close on my new house tomorrow morning, and will start moving stuff out of the storage unit and to the new place. Most of it will be going in the garage, as I'm getting some work done the next couple weeks. New A/C is getting installed next week, and 2 weeks later most of the carpet is getting replaced with hardwood flooring.

So basically I'm spending a ******** of money the next few weeks.

I have annual training starting Saturday, which is something like three weeks away from home. It'll be my first AT as a senior non-commissioned officer, which roughly translates to I get to be the guy who delivers a mission briefing and then walk around doing nothing during a 72 hour operation, and we've got weapons qualifications so that should be fun for me. I can usually trick one of the newer guys to bet they can outscore me on the ranges. Supposed to be three weeks, anyway, but two weeks in I get to fly out of there to a school for a week.

Blah.

I have tomorrow off too, which is nice. Just got a couple parts in for the final steps on the mill which I will be installing (a router relay switch so the mill controller will be able to turn on and off the router when it isn't cutting things, and a better limit switch interface so I don't have to fail to soldier things correctly onto a never to be sufficiently damned DB9 serial cable again.I'm not horrible at soldiering things, but thats just too annoying to even be worth trying.

I locked in my home refinance a couple days ago, so now I just have to wait for everything to process. I know there is nothing I can do to make it go faster at this point, but I figure i'll be crazy by the end of the weekend from waiting. Drops the house payment by almost $300 a month though, so I'm happy. (this is the second refinance attempt, the one months ago fell through at the last minute due to an appraisal issue because the appraiser allegedly hated the refinance person at the bank, this is a different program and its past that point so should work. I hope)

My blueberries are ripe too, so i'll get to pick all 60 of them!

Today I am mostly nursing a hangover. My girlfriend does not have one. Therefore I hate her.

Tomorrow I'll be going for a BBQ, so hopefully it won't rain. However, as this very British summer has been nothing but rain, I don't hold out much hope for that.

Husband off for the weekend to visit his 'rents, as he pretends to be a Good Son (tm.) In reality he dreads this visits and deliberately plans how to keep them as short as possible.

Once he comes back tonight, there will be dinner downtown, and then me working my tail off to finish my javascript project the rest of the weekend.

I'm parenting solo today as the Mr. Is on a business trip. Fortunately 2/3 of the spawn are in school (yes!!!) so it's a hell of a lot easier to manage. I've got an eye doctor appointment, then the lil guy and I are hitting up a consignment sale for the first time at the fair grounds. I'm hoping to come home with an elephant or maybe some winter clothes for the kids.
Tomorrow morning I pick the hubs up from the airport, drop him off at home, and the kids and I will go bug the local firefighters and nose around the fire station. Should be entertaining. I love me a man in uniform. Other than that we'll be trying to keep cool in this god awful heat that is never ending.

An elephant?

The heat broke for us yesterday. it had been 90-100 for a few days; now it's 60 and raining. My weekend involves going down to Westchester to see my wife's family while my brother flea-bombs the house.

I have to work all weekend, but I'll also be enjoying the fact that we once again have cable and internet, yay! We moved in here last week, but they couldn't get our cable on until this morning. Network TV sucks when that's all you have.

And since my weekends are Monday and Tuesday now, I plan on spending time at the pool, since the first half of summer was spent at my sister's house. Time to get out!

My daughter was supposed to be coming home..yesterday, so I took today off. But then her car died.

I just got back from picking14lbs of blueberries. They're so tasty!

Tomorrow, my son, in preparation for his move to Boston, decided he was having a yard sale - at our house. I'm making signs. I hate yard sales. Smiley: mad

Absolutely nothing this weekend except the standard chores, which is a very nice change of pace since there is something always on the weekends.

Pfft, she's from the north, she's not used to this weather.

But it *is* pretty damn hot, even for here.

We have an Orchard right by our house. We planted blueberry bushes a couple years ago, but they weren't doing much - not getting enough sun I think. So, we moved them about a month ago. Now they're doing worse.

I made blueberry muffins for breakfast.

Refinishing a wooden bench and a picnic table at my grandmother's house. They've been neglected since my grandfather passed, and now need to be completely stripped and refinished. At least it's not too hot out this weekend.

I'm contacting my representative about having a blueberry redistribution measure sent through Congress.
