It's an adult that rides on the bus to make sure the kids don't annoy the driver enough to make then drive the bus into oncoming traffic.

Back in my day my parents would have beaten the ever living shite out of me for this kind of behaviour.

My first reaction is that I have absolutely no desire to watch a bunch of kids bully an adult to the point of crying. My second is that those kids should be ashamed of themselves for their behavior. But then I remembered when I was in 8th grade and we had a new English teacher. He was different. He wore his hair in a pony tail and he was very soft spoken. For whatever reason, my classmates decided they didn't like him, and I'll admit I succumbed to the hive mentality that is junior high. We all bullied that teacher. Mocked him, completely disrespected him. I think he lasted three months or so, and then he quit. I knew better, but back then I cared about **** in, and it was way too easy to just fall into what everyone else was doing. Not that that excuses the behavior, but I'll bet some of those kids were feeling the same.

So I got a retweet, from Samual L. Jackson of all people, to a webpage that's asking for donations for Karen H Klein (the woman in the video) so she can take a vacation. If I'm reading the page right, they want to raise $5,000, and are at $94,000.

I don't think "having their feelings hurt" is a really good reason to start a fund raiser for someone.

I think its a nice gesture, I mean this lady is probably a volunteer, or maybe getting paid like minimum wage, if she's lucky. Sending her on a nice trip would be nice, but like everything on the internet, go big or go home. Like certain kickstarters people like to throw money at stuff. Honestly Im surprised its not at a higher amount, as this is all over the web. I'm guessing most people seen it was at such a high amount and decide not to donate.

Honestly I've considered 'internet begging' to see if anyone would donate to help me get my teeth fixed I have 26 teeth needing extractions, I've had no health insurance for 3 years, since getting laid off. I do have a part time job, the state program pays me to watch/help my father 4 hours a day, as he's disabled and cant be alone, while my disabled uncle (whom he lives with) is at the hospital, hes diabetic in a wheelchair because of his feet. I also get paid to help him with errands/cleaning. My dad has stage 4 liver failure, doctors told him he has less then 1 year to live, and if he forgets to take his medications, his ammonia lvls go up and he goes crazy, my uncle has stage 4 kidney failure and has to do dialysis daily.
So I work about 5~6 hours a day. The only 'insurance' they offered was cobra, and it didnt have dental iirc. I've been on the state aid list for 3 years, still waiting (Hate Badgercare). I figure, since its the internet, if you can find like 5000 people to donate 1 dollar I could pay for the surgery/dentures and finally being out of pain (My teeth are REALLY bad, like the teeth your dentist warns you about). I go tons of tylenol and ambesol.

Idk do you think it would even work, I wouldn't even know where to start. Meh sorry for rambling.

I think it's the hive mentality, wanting to fit in... It's very Lord of the Flies, no one wants to be the kid picked on so they do the picking. Jr. is thirteen and I have had at least five conversations with him in the last six months about bullying, the power of words, being an individual, standing up for yourself... Thank Goodness he was only once on what I considered to be the wrong side of the fence (I think it was using the word "gay" to refer to something being stupid because his best friend uses it). Still, even good kids can fall into this behavior out of a lack of guidance.
I think that a lot of well-meaning parents fail their children when they think they will somehow naturally "find" their way into being good people and doing the right thing. Your kid didn't "just know" how to brush his teeth or not poo his pants or pee in bed--- he or she is dependent on you to learn everything, appropriate behavior and how to advocate for a person who needs help included. It's a scary thing to stand up to a mob. You have to talk to your kid about safe ways to advocate. I hope if anything, this is used as a teaching example.

That poor woman.

Just came across this article and I gotta say, I agree with the sentiment. The reality is that aside from a slap on the wrist, the kids will, in all likelihood, suffer no lasting consequence for their actions and as a result, the parents will be allowed to ignore the problem entirely. Expel the little @#%^ers. If nothing else, it forces the parents to recognize and deal with the issue.

Also, apparently the donation fund is up to $212k from $94k. Smiley: eek

Hoping she does something classy like spend $5k on the vacation, and donates the rest to some anti-bully non-profit or whatnot.

Right now, any red-blooded male is thinking "I need to get me one of those"

I remember reading that he worked out the mobility issues but, when he later tested it, bears were scared of it and ran away. Which sort of negates the whole "let's study bears up close" thing. Who would have guessed a less than favorable ursine reaction when confronted by Capt Dork of the Space Patrol?

Ok, so he's no Tony Stark...but the Niagra Escarpment, and the pickup truck, those gave me the lulz.

Anyways, back to the OP, that poor lady needs to be replaced. With Vinnie Jones.
