A new iPhone app promoting the GOP hopeful allows supporters to take a photo of themselves with their phones and superimpose a “Mitt-inspired artistic frame“ or personalized message that lets them share with the social media world that ”I’m with Mitt.” Slogans for the “With Mitt” app include “I’m with Mitt,“ ”We’re with Mitt,“ ”Mom’s for Mitt,“ ”Obama isn’t working,” and — the one that is getting the most attention — “A better Amercia.”

This would be a good equivocation if instead of an obvious offhand mis-statement, of which Romney has dozens. Instead the proper equivocation would be to the obvious and simple mistake made by the Obama new media team in editing....oh wait. They probably didn't use the lowest bidder, did they? Capitalism! It's the bset.

Outsourcing to Korea to program your app is the American way.

On one hand, I saw the OP and thought "eh" and moved on.

On the other hand, I saw the OP upset Moe enough that he had to try and counter-dig and that was hilarious.

Never really understood this sentiment. Any sort of representative democracy essentially guarantees mediocrity in elected officials. The leaders we consider exceptional are almost all the recipients of enormous amounts of random chance in their favor. Morons vote for people. Informed people vote for institutions.

And people of conscience do things other people don't understand sometimes. I vote Libertarian. Which makes me just as nuts as the folks who vote Green.

But in a cooler, more rational sort of way.

right?

Why in the world would you think other people wouldn't understand an empty gesture appealing to your own vanity?

Sorry, I'll be more precise next time. People of conscience sometimes hold sentiment other people don't understand sometimes.

Speaking of being born in Amercia, good ole former Rep. and current Senate candidate Hoekstra is taking "limited government" to new levels by saying we need a special new federal office of birth certificate checking under the umbrella of the FBI or CIA.

There's a pretty clear difference between say, forgetting someone's name or what state/town someone happens to be in this hour during a busy travel schedule and forgetting how many states are in the country you're running for the highest office off. Doubly so when every school child has this pretty much drilled into them along the way. Could be there's a connection there and a disconnection with mainstream America.

Somehow an obvious typo by some nameless staffer 15 levels below what anyone actually cares about just doesn't have so much weight, does it? Get back to me when the actual candidate can't remember how to pronounce the word maybe. Or when he forgets how many states there are. Cause that would be something, wouldn't it?

Only if you're desperately grasping at straws.

Nah. I think grasping at straws is even attempting to suggest that the former is remotely as problematic as the latter. Anyone can make the former sort of mistake. Only someone who failed to be raised in the US during his formative years would ever make the latter kind. I mean, for most of us it's sorta automatic, you think "50 states". Can't think of one without the other popping into you head. Unless you're Obama, I guess.

Well, suggesting either is actually problematic is grasping at straws, but I admit your trying to differentiate between the two is a hilarious way to do it. Smiley: smile
