Rosen's comments may have been accurate, but they are ill-advised. That said, it seems a little outlandish to make such a big deal out of them, given what a small fry Rosen seems to be. This would be news if say, Hilary Clinton said this - but some backroom hack? Who cares? I am sure that the vast majority of Dems in the political machine are facepalming about this individual not keeping their mouth shut.

You're perfectly correct in stating that this is really not a big deal, Republicans are blowing it out of proportion to score cheap points, and most mainstream Democrats are correctly distancing themselves from Rosen.
However, you have to recognize that the Democrats would do exactly the same thing were some low-rate right-wing female commentator (Meghan McCain, Ann Coulter, etc.) to make similar comments about a Democratic politician's spouse. It's just the nature of the beast, and we'll all forget about it in a week.

The issue at hand isn't that Anne Romney isn't doing anything in the private economy right now. The issue is that Rosen implied that Anne Romney wasn't doing anything useful in her private household when her boys were young. A statement which many stay-at-home moms (and GOP talking heads) quickly took issue with.
I just don't understand why you have such an issue with the woman for choosing not to work or donate her time.

No, Rosen implied that Anne Romney had no understanding of the economic pressures faced by someone who has to simultaneously worry about their family responsibilities and income. Sure it's foolishly phrased, and I'm not especially keen on defending it, but she was noting the difference between raising five kids and raising five kids while working a full time job to provide for them.

I have total respect for SAHMs, but most of them I know are also heavily involved in their children's lives - running girl scout troops, organizing food banks, volunteering at their kid's schools, etc. And they will proudly trot out all the things their kids are involved with that they are also a part of, in detailed description, because they made the decision to stay at home for their kids: not for their own personal sake, but for the sake of the children - to sacrifice a second income in order to be a full time parent.
Ann Romney got the luxury of it not really being a sacrifice. But her kids are grown. I guess having a husband running for president means you never have a boring day...
Or, I guess that's the true definition of the "leisure class."
