Actually, looking @ the date of the confirmation email, this was most likely a filthy sock I stood up to troll nephtys or varrus with and then forgot about/lost interest in. I hope I still have access to the email my original ID was registered at. Hmmmm, back to the archives....

Well, I suppose I was always a bit of a fan of irony. If the sock fits, I suppose I ought to wear it, eh?

Technically I didn't really neeeeeed a sock to troll Varrus, but he was always a bit easier to fluster when one stacked the deck against him, so to speak. Not that I ever doubted he was indeed a sock himself.

Everquest brought me in the first time and its going to free to play is what brought me around this time. Perhaps, I'll email support to see if I can get my original forum account restored. I hate to see that shiny green sage rating, and not massive but respectable post count fade away into the bowels of the internets. I even wore the Aude Sapere tag for a time.

I don't believe usernames can be changed, although display names can be. I suppose the code monkeys could do it if you bribed them enough.

What's the difference?
Is the user name the one shown in posts?

Socks are bad. Use your xythex account. And never make another sock.

Administrator Kaolian

Edit: and yes, usernames can be changed, but it breaks numerous things so we generally try to avoid it at all costs for established accounts. Login name is the username. Display name is usually the username coupled with whatever your premium user selectable title is, though admins can change thier display name at will.

Isn't there some sort of statute of limitations for being scolded for making socks? At seven years old, this sock is practically an antique! But now you've gone and spoiled the suspense. How did you know? Did you rly miss me that much? Or did you cheat and look at the 5 gabillion failed login attempts? I'll PM DF.

Awww Nad, I missed you most of all! This sock smells anyway, the sooner I can get back into my old Username the better. Between the combination of EQ going F2P and this being an election year, I was bound to end up back here! Perhaps the asylum really is unquitable. Or perhaps I'm just too old and crotchety to really give up old bad habits.

Apperently it was about some FFXI guy that people didn't like. Demea was apperently the first to use it here in the Asylum.

It's first common use on Alla's stemmed from an extremely unhelpful first commont for a Mob in the FFXI bestiary. Its origin before that I do not know. It quickly fell into use by forum regulars for calling out and symbolizing particularly off-topic or mind boggelingly inane threads or comments in forum=4 generally started by lost FFXI forum posters. (Tare,Moe, Elderon, et el.). Doesn't gbaji still do this sort of research? Outdated forum meme FTW!
