Being far away from the Mexican border means thankfully these kinds of issues are more a passing interest, as compared to immediate problem. Illegal immigration seems to be one of those things that's always there as an issue, but never one that really divides the parties, or causes an uproar in DC. On one hand you have an administration that talks in ways that tend to get blasted as 'amnesty' on the other hand they've been quite good at deporting people the last few years.

Anyway, I don't have a problem with securing the border or anything like that. It's nice to know drug smugglers and others cut from the same thread are getting dealt with.

Still though, it's a rather surreal experience seeing Texas Highway Patrol plastered on the side of a gunboat.

I was actually thinking of the shirt that says something like that, but couldn't find the picture. So I'm hunting it down, and I find this that made me chuckle, and kind of reaffirm the validity of my (and the shirt's) claim. Smiley: laugh

Though, as far as the article is concerned, I'd join Texas Highway Patrol if it meant I got to drive around in one of those boats. That thing is awesome. I want one. 300 horsepower, six (what looks like) M249/M240s, and operates in as little water as a small above ground swimming pool? I'd take that fishing.

Oh, and bulletproof. Them fish ain't gonna escape the hook ever again!

Losing your edge eh? Smiley: disappointed

Oh well, add it to the list of references that sailed comfortably over my head... Smiley: lol

Mostly because the parties and government recognize the fact, while illegal, the people do provide a service to the US, as evidenced by the reduced harvests in Georgia and other states that have enacted restrictive laws.
