How can you have six more weeks of winter when it never really was winter to begin with?

Are you questioning the validity of the groundhog?

I don't know how we can have an early Spring when Winter never really happened in the first place.

Being from Maine, I never understood groundhog's day - 6 more weeks of winter starting the 2nd of February would be fantastic news and would constitute early spring.

The same in MN. In fact, that was the joke of the ground hog. It's day was marked simply to give hope that spring was coming - one way or another.

sh*t its rained here all winter, weve had maybe 60CM of snow (or about 25 of your silly inches) over the winter which traditionally lasts from late october until early april. Last year we had 130 CM's of snow.(at this time, i think we broke 200)

I can really get on board with this global warming thing.

Out here in my sector of Best Dakota we've had 17 inches of snow since 1 OCT. Almost all of that was in November. It's been mostly in the 40's since Christmas and has hit 65 F more than once.

They say that climate is what you expect and weather is what you get. We are getting neither properly out here.

It's weird enough when New York has the same winter weather as the Dakotas; doubly so when it's like this.

WTF since when do we have a groundhog here? Smiley: eek

Well, I bet he must live in Bear Hollow. I'm going to have to go visit there now and meet him. Anyway, Gus thinks early spring is coming because it was 70F today.

ETA: Oh ballz I hit 13K and didn't even notice.

Editga: Yep, Bear Hollow.

I've always thought it would be a good idea to drive up to Punxy and assassinate that damn rodent when the hold him up. I've yet to find anyone that lives around here that thinks it's a bad idea.

Offing an easily replaceable rodent not worth the gas fare and quarter bullet.

Why does NY/PA have 4-5 different groundhog prediction locations? Are they trying to pinpoint the exact location that Spring/Winter will appear?

Winter finally started for real here, we've got 3-4 inches of snow (a lot around here) and it's -5 to -10°C during the day.
Makes me a happy person. Smiley: smile

No sooner do I complain.... we got about 6 inches here last night. It tapered off in the wee hours, but is starting up again. They're saying we could get another foot in town, while the mountains and plains are getting hammered.

Dragging chubby rodents out of the ground and asking them about the weather. Be glad you got rid of us.
