Interpret my dreamFollow

I was playing cards with some people. Friends, I think, though they were much more skilled in the dream than they are in real life. We were playing a game that was something of a bastardized form of Chinese Poker that we used to play sometimes in high school. It's like regular ol' poker, but you deal out all the cards, so everyone can make multiple poker hands with what they're dealt.

I was dealt a royal flush, and it was going to allow me to win. I was super excited about it, and really played up how soundly I was about to beat everyone. Proudly laid my cards down: Aâ™ , Kâ™  , Qâ™  , Jâ™  , 10â™ . "Royal flush", I say. "Suck it."

Then someone says, "That's not a royal flush, dude. One's a club." I look down, and much to my dismay, the cards read: A♠, K♠ , Q♣, J♠ , 10♠. I'm very confused. I pick up the cards, saying "Oh, my bad, I probably put the wrong card down. I've got the Queen of spades here somewhere." That turns out to be true. I find said Queen, replace the offending card, and lay the hand down again.

"Dude, that's still not a royal flush."

I look down again, and somehow now a different card is there. The hand now reads: A♣, K♠ , Q♠, J♠, 10♠. Now I'm real flustered, and everyone's cracking jokes and exchanging knowing glances.

*********** okay, hang on." I pick up the cards and repeat the process. I put 'em down again, but I already know I've got it wrong. Now another club gets mistaken for a spade. It's clear I've got the royal flush, but I'm somehow incapable of assembling it. I keep getting it wrong, more and more comically.

As I'm struggling to figure out the error, the cards start to bleed together. Every card seems to have both clubs and spades on it, like someone tried to crudely change one into the other with a sharpie marker. They seem to be changing shapes, even as I look at them.

Just when I'm about to freak out, my alarm clock goes off and I'm up.

So, what's the explanation? Before you answer, know that "Repressed homosexuality" is so totally gauche.

Sounds like you want to go to a vet's office and start hitting female dogs with a small shovel.

Are you currently at a point in your life where you feel successful or close to success? Or at least content? Could you be subconsciously worried that you might be about to experience a big setback sometime soon?

Possible. I'm doing pretty well right now in all circumstances, more or less. I tend to be a little bit oblivious and forgetful, though, so there's always a certain paranoia that things only seem good because I'm forgetting something important (ex: it seems like I'm doing well financially because I'm forgetting that I owe a big payment on something). I suppose it could be that I'm subconsciously afraid that my burgeoning confidence in my well-being is about to be doused by some cold reality or my own ineptitude.

Yipes.

Your comments about the people you're playing cards with makes it seem as though you don't feel like you're on equal footing with them.

The game of cards symbolizes some sort of strategic goal.

Your mistakes in choosing the proper card symbolizes insecurity in your decision.

The mistake dreams I have the most are I need to make a phone call. It's imperative, for one reason or another, that I get the phone call made quickly. But I keep ******** up dialing the number.

Edit - What font gives the card suites?

It means you should call a spade a spade, and to stop messing around with weird clubs.

Dunno. Whenever I need to insert a goofy symbol like that, I just google "card suit symbols" and copy/paste something from the results.

When I was a wee tyke, I thought that line was "Yogurt is the only food that'll do anything for you."

It's possible that Jamie Lee Curtis was singing my version and I heard correctly.

Sounds like a typical anxiety dream. Your feelings of insecurity manifested themselves physically through the cards changing, and your brain really couldn't handle the severe break in logic.

It sounds like it was fueled by your internal clock knowing that you were moments away from waking, which is what made it so vivid.

I'm shocked, guys. Truly shocked. I come to you, with a real problem, and what do you do? You make fun of my sex life? Call me gay? And you even have the gall to bring my mother into it? The nerve!!

You guys are so rude. I'm leaving the internet forever.
