Hey, don't knock curling. I tried it out at a place in...what was it...Parsippany, I think? It's actually a lot of fun, and quite difficult. You understand it a lot better once you realize that it's in the same vein as bowling; there was a big bar in the place. It's filled entirely with older semi-out of shape guys just looking to get out of the house, have a few beers, and do something competitive for kicks.

Side note: ever notice how every drinking sport/game is one that involves a high degree of precision? Bowling, curling, darts, pool/billiards, beer pong/beirut, etc. I suppose the fun's all in trying to perform in spite of (or in some cases, because of) the inebriative effects. Smiley: tongue

Curling is also more interesting if you learn some of the rules that are involved with it beyond rocks closer to the center are worth points.

Icy what you did there! It's hockey to hijack threads by me though! It's a net gain over a footbal thread and there isn't a pucking thing they can do about it, though it can lead to a sticky situation

I happened to be in Vegas for the Pats/Broncos regular season game and hearing someone yell "Where is your god now?" to the bevy of Denver fans that lost their shirts was one of the funniest things I've ever witnessed. It was histarical & sad at the same time.

I laughed until I cried.

Anyhoo, I thought Tebow was a bum until the Playoff win over Pittsburgh. While he is not a precision passer & will probably never be consistently, that pass in OT was SPOT on. Sure, it helped that Pittsburgh committed to the pass, but Tebow doesn't make that kind of pass most of the time. Somehow, he finds a way to win- provided you're offense can run te option. If it can't? Denver's gonna look like the Peytonless Colts. Keep in mind, Tebow was #4 in Denver's depth chart to start the season,

As a Pats fan, I'm happy Denver knocked off Pittsburgh. However, a loss to Denver will be almost as bad as 18-1. It's easy to market this as "good" versus "evil" (As I understand it, people outside of New England- and about half of Connecticut- believe the Pats to be evil), & that is surely accentuated by Belichick hiring former Denver coach Josh McDaniels the week of the big game. I love Belichick, but I understand the hatred for his evil genius. However, if he was your team's coach, you'd love him too.

This year, a good offense has proven it can beat a good defense. I'd imagine it'll be the Packers vs the Saints next week (But if SF can not make any mistakes...they're dangerous. Also, as much as I hate them, the Giants D looked amazing against Atlanta) in the NFC, & The Pats vs the Ravens. If all is right with the world, it'll be a Pats/Packers Superbowl, it'll be the highest scoring game ever played, & it'll be awesome.

Pats won't get passed the Ravens, they can't stop the run and Ray Rice will do that all day, keeping Brady off the field. If I was a betting man Id say Saints vs Ravens but it is very hard to bet against Rodgers and the Pack.

Would be cool to see the brothers Harbaugh duke it out, and considering the terrible defense of some of the NFC contenders it wouldn't surprise me to see it happen.

But ya I don't see any AFC team being able to stop the Ravens, they are just to good at keeping other offenses off the field.

When they're not sucking. Like when they got beaten by Jacksonville. Or trounced by the Chargers. Or lost to the Titans without CJ. Or when they got the snot kicked out of them by Marshawn Lynch?

You know, first they need to get by Arian foster and Andre Johnson. Two players that can take control of a game. There's no foregone conclusions here. The Ravens can toss out a stinker as well as anyone in the league.

As bad as the Pats D is, they're actually decent against the run. Granted, Baltimore is a great running team but they don't get the consistent quarterbacking from Flacco that the Pats get from Brady. Provided Baltimore doesn't go up by 24 in the first quarter, the Pats have the ability to score quickly while Baltimore isn't going to rack up the points as fast. I'm confident Baltimore can take down Houston, but they don't match up quite as well against the Pats.

Not to mention BAL has Cam Cameron often failing to take advantage of the running game. His playcalling is just abyssmal at times.

You mean the 17-20-4 Lightning and the 21-15-7 Kings? It seems like the players don't understand hockey all that well either. Smiley: laugh

The Panthers, on the other hand, are just mind-boggling.

Pretty much this. I hear "no AFC team can stop the Ravens" and can't help but think of all the teams that had no real problems stopping the Ravens. They're "good", but not "great".

Yeah, pretty much what I was going to say. When the Ravens are good, they're real good. But when they're riding the Suck Horse, it won't matter. Kinda like the Giants as well. There's just too much inconsistency with those two teams.

My bet is it'll be Packers-Pats. I see whichever team winning the Bal-Hou game flaking out against the Pats.

That said, if by some miracle *cough* the Donkeys actually made it to the AFC championship game, I'd almost have to start rooting for them. I don't think there's much of a chance of it happening, but then I didn't think there was any shot of them getting by the Steelers either.

Packers vs. Pats is my guess as well. I like the Giants, even against Green Bay; it seems like they're a team that, if they can survive their inevitable end-of-season-collapse and get into the playoffs with an iota of momentum, they pick up a big head of steam. Their no-blitz rush is unique, and it seems like it can* serve them real well in the playoffs against the air-it-out finesse teams (Pats, Saints, Green Bay).

*All that being said, I still think the Packers will be able to handle them. Consider it my measure of the difference between Aaron and Eli. It's not that I believe that Eli will be bad, but some part of me can always kind of envision him throwing two pick-6's to Woodson or the like.

I'll take my Texans to beat Baltimore, but feel free to disregard that because it's motivated slightly by bias. I'm just hoping that the Texans come in with a big fat chip on their shoulders. Either way, I think the team that comes out runs into a buzz saw NE offense that neither can keep pace with (same for the Broncos, which is why I'm penciling them out).

Super Bowl:

Pats outgun the Pack, in a minor upset that gets all the pundits talking about how we NEVER should have discounted Brady in favor of Rodgers, even though they were the very ones doing it. "Blah blah blah, I'll tell you what, Aaron Rodgers had an MVP season, but Tom Brady does one thing, and that's win the big games." Etc. etc.

Of course when they suck they suck. That is why it is called sucking. On paper the ravens stack up better than any competition in the AFC, they have solid defense and a capable clock eating offense. Combined these keep high Octane offenses (such as the patriots, and texans) off the field.

Anything can happen in a game, but statistically the Ravens are better than the rest. Will they suck it up? maybe who knows, but on paper they should beat everyone of the remaining teams.
