movies (likely to see Girl w/ Dragon Tattoo)
Awesome movie, although I made the mistake of seeing it with my family over the holiday weekend. Definitely not a "family-friendly" flick, but fantastic nonetheless.
Ah, cool. Yeah, I heard that there were a couple of rape scenes in it, which kinda tweaks me out. I empathize too much with characters in movies, so graphic torture/rape/murder stuff really bothers me. I literally can't watch those torture-****,
Hostel-type ones.
Hopefully, I'm wrong, or they're not too bad. Still wanna see the movie, though, so I guess I'll be suffering through either way.
The rape/torture scenes are not "graphic" in the sense that you see blood and sharp things causing pain to squishy things (the
Hostel/Saw route), but they're very emotionally charged. The most disturbing (and important) one in the second act is stretched out, and definitely invests you in the characters.

The new one is a US adaptation of the book. Haven't read much on it, so I don't know how heavily influenced it is by the Swedish film version.
I went into this movie having neither read the book nor seen the original Swedish film, or knowing anything about the story whatsoever. The only thing I needed to know was that the movie was directed by David Fincher, who also directed
Se7en,
The Game,
Fight Club,
Zodiac, and
The Social Network. A pretty outstanding resume.
