The Final Friday Thread of the YearFollow

It's a quarter to 11cst and no Friday thread yet, so I'll give it a stab.
What's everyone's big plans for New Year's Eve? I'm helping my nephew move into his new house tomorrow, probably taking up most of the day.

Since I recently moved here I don't know a lot of people, sister and brother-in-law are out of town, so I'll most likely spend a nice quiet night at home. Not that I mind as I've pretty much gone through the "get blasted out of my gourd" stage. I do have a bottle of brandy that may need some attention. Smiley: laugh

For anyone going out to a party, to paraphrase the old poker saying "if you can't spot the drunkest guy at the party, it's probably you", so please be careful and take a cab/get a ride home. We want you all back on Monday!

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

I worked tonight.

Tomorrow I'm meeting up with the ladyfriend and we'll likely become inebriated and go build a snow fort.

I work Sunday, but I get paid time and a half, so it's all good. Then it's off for some late night walking and exploring the city with a friend.

A lurker who was disappointed in having no Friday thread to read, I'm assuming. Was wondering where it was myself.

Say happy new year to the family coming over then get the hell out as fast as I can. Going to a friends house to watch them drink and hang out around the fire.

This weekend is going to be great. Going to have a party with my nerd friends tomorrow night; New Year's Day is also my anniversary, so I'll be spending some time with the lady friend.

I don't have any plans for New Years. Usually stay up well past midnight, so I'll probably just be drinking champagne instead of beer. Live Dangerously, I always say.

Writing a so far 10 page document... Then posting it and going over to play games with the family. We have scrabble this year, which given the creative spelling that most people in my family are aflicted with, could get... entertaining!

This one is actually looking slightly shorter than last year. I only do them once a year thankfully. I may stop when I hit 10 years of them. I dunno.

Jonwin has tickets for us to spend Christmas New Years Eve on the Constellation, watching the Fireworks at Midnight. Then I pray we can get through the crowd safely to our car.

If needed AAA will get people home with their cars, not that I expect either Jonwin or I to drink that much on the ship. I'm hoping they will have hot cider, to help me stay warm.

Thanks posting this early without coffee having taken effect mixed up the holidays.

::looks into empty coffee cup and wishes I had made a pot of coffee instead of using the Senso, daughter gave us, since she got a K-Cup for Hanuka.::

Wondering how someone with only 180 posts made guru. I seem to have missed their quality, but then I only lurk here when I am bored.

Not doing anything really. Going out on New Year's isn't something I enjoy. Too many crazy people out there. We're just going to make a trip to the liquor store a little later today and have a few here at home. For the most part, it'll be like any other Saturday night.

And anyway, it's double exp weekend on EQ2, can't pass that up!

The kids are at my moms for the weekend. Sick and I are setting up a new entertainment set, rearranging the living room to accomadate our Xbox Kinect, going out to shop for a few new pictures to hang on the wall, then going out to dine at one of my favorite steak houses in the area.

Your karma rating decides the base post score when you post, it's fairly easy for a newer poster to hit guru, since they have an average of far less posts for their average karma, where as someone with over 2-3000 posts who didn't get guru before they broke 500 will have a much harder time changing their average karma w/o admin intervention.

Thus why I've been scholar since early 2005, but only just recently have my posts shifted from scholar auto-decent to near-sage auto-good, and even with that I'm still scholar simply by the nature of my > 10k post count. It's not impossible for someone go from scholar -> sage or sage-> guru by the time they hit 10k, but it's fairly rare. Gaxey did it, I think around 9k, but I may be wrong on that.

Though really, lolkarma, since all karma really does is change the color of your name. Smiley: lol

I wasn't whining about how long it took me, I was just making an observation about something I noticed the other night and found amusing Smiley: laugh I don't really care about karma at all. I used too, because I wanted sage to have an awesome red name, because red looked cooler than goldenrod, but now that guru is red and sage is green, I've pretty much lost interest

No special plans here. Just as well as everything seems to be covered in ice around here. There was just an accident down the road from us that killed two people. Smiley: frown

We took down the xmas tree today. The living room is boring again.

I've just tapped into a pretty yummy bottle of wine - I don't have to share this one.

I'll try and stay up til midnight because you know this could be **** Clarks last year of counting down the big ball.
