I'm very tempted to replace my microwave with a larger microwave/convection oven unit, and replace my ailing stove with a standalone range sitting on top of new storage space where the oven used to be.

Is it wrong that my planned "big gift" for myself this year is one of those over-the-stove hood/microwaves? Got a semi-remodel of the kitchen done this summer (just cabinets and countertops), and realized that if I installed one of those puppies, I could actually create some extra counter space. Sadly, I'm actually excited about the idea. It's that or a tuner for my car. Hmmm.... Or maybe both?

I vote the microwave. Counterspace is one of those things where you can make do when it's limited, but don't understand how you ever lived with less once you have more.

Yeah. My kitchen is a small galley type deal, and counter space is scarce. The old cabinets had one of those pull out cutting boards, but the new ones don't. I no longer have the problem of getting my stuff on the board only to realize that my favorite chopping knife is in the drawer directly under the board, but now I have to find a space to put the cutting board. And the cabinets over/around the stove are exactly shaped for putting a microwave there, so it should be easy to install. So that's my plan.

I want a countertop microwave. Maybe I'll hit the aftermath sales.

And what, ho! Nobster bisque.

Im assuming you mean your partner and possibly kidlets. Cause no one gets happy about visiting inlaws. It's like, against the law or something

The last couple of years I've been resisting the disgusting commercialization of the holiday. I let everyone that might be tempted to buy me something to please don't, as I won't be exchanging gifts. It makes the holiday so much easier on my checking account and my sanity.

I'll probably buy myself a few awesome beers, not that I actually do anything for Christmas other than go out to dinner with family but it's a good excuse.

I have no idea of what I'm getting from Jonwin. Coal would do if I had a place to burn it.

His present has stayed hidden since Faerie Con, and I actually been able to keep it secret. I'm not usually very good at keeping presents hidden for long.

Huh, now I want a set. My iPod is pretty awkward when it comes to jogging, though I've gotten used to it. The 2gbs will probably annoy the hell out of me, though. Decisions decisions.

I still wouldn't call it a ******* walkman like an old man, though.

I can't believe Sony still calls them that. The connotations are not great for sales.

The 2 gigs isn't bad if you are like me and listen to podcasts weekly. I get about a gig of fresh music each week from livesets.us, download them, drop them into my walkman, and have brand new fun music every week without any copyright violations.

If you have the available space between the below cabinets and the counter top, you could cut out a slot for a pull out cutting board. I made one myself and it's a godsend. I don't know you can get used to not having a pullout anymore.

At least one of my presents(one wrapped in Bday paper) looks a lot like a DVD or video game. No guesses on what else I'll get, though I did create a fairly detailed . As far as gifts I'm excited to give, well, my sisters, my brother-in-law and I have pooled our funds to buy our parents a 42" TV and stand. They've been wanting a new TV since before last Christmas, so I can't wait to see the look on their faces.

I have no idea what I'm getting, but Mr. Tare is getting a nice hoodie, new PS game (Dead Island?) and the Wine Stein since he's now into drinking wine.
The kids are getting a trampoline and loads of other space consuming crap.

And my gift to all of you is this brief return to the Assylum. Yay!

We're traveling this Christmas so we've already given most of our family gifts rather than lug them back and forth from a hotel room on the east coast. I received snazzy new slippers, a game, a book, jumper cables and an ice brush for the car. Flea got some perfume and we're getting a favorite bracelet repaired (lost a pearl) plus a gift card to one of her craft store hangouts. Joph Jr. got a PS3 with a handful of games and is getting an Aperture Science t-shirt on Christmas for something to open since it'll travel light. Joph v3.0 gets new toys on a regular basis and doesn't comprehend Christmas anyway. We're mainly saving for a new play set for him this spring when the weather is warm and he's exploring the wild backyard.
